Hot, although i'm not sure if the old post for this is still on here?
#3
I posted this before but this is a much better deal. If I hadn't already bought the 6110N I would buy it. The final figure is correct but the discount is now £66 + VAT.
#4
and if vat comes down to 15 % then its even cheaper!
#5
quite funny that it would cost you arond £110 to replace the toner !!!
#6
just ordered thanks!

Any idea how these compare to inkjets for photos? Do they print well onto nice photo paper?
Thanks.
#8
Far better than an ink jet, with the free toner it should last over 8000 pages! Heat added and one ordered!!
#9
Does anyone know if you can get this to work with a mac? Looked on the xerox support site and cant see any drivers so I suspect thats a no but if anyone knows if it can work - how?

Laser printers are getting better all the time, but you're better with an inkjet for photo printing every time.

Laser printers have a fuser unit, which burns the toner powder (ink) onto the paper. Because of the temperatures involved, you need to use specific paper. It feels smoother and looks slightly glossier than normal paper. You can buy "laser photo paper", but it's not much cop. Effectively, it's a slightly heavier weight, but not much different to the standard laser paper.

Manufacturers are very specific about what weight of paper you can use in their machines - for the auto tray (print off 10 sheets and the machine takes them all through for you) it's generally up to 90gsm. The manual tray (1 sheet at a time) may handle up to 120gsm. The manual tray will often take a more direct route through the machine, putting less strain on the internals when using a heavier paper.

Anyway, without going off on one - IMO you're much better off with an inkjet. Better results, you can put almost anything you want through it, cheaper consumables. A3 prints are much more common in inkjets, too.

does anyone know if this price will last until 1st December?

VAT is coming down on that day to 15%!!!

Anyone know if this will definitely work on 64 bit vista?
#12
Great price, especially with the spare set of toner carts, but is it possible to refill these cartridges? Googling throws up that these might use a kill chip.

For 1000 page cartridges they seem quite expesive http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=KITXE6125

I use both this printer and an epson R800 (ink jet). The inkjet wins hands down for photos - the colours are much more vibrant.

Anyone know if this will work with my iMac (OS X 10.5.5) as looking on the Xerox site it waffles on about Windows & Linux but no sign of Mac OS??

Urgent advice please!!

Great deal BTW :-D
#15
Get the photos printed online or at your local supermarket - much better quality. Buy this for everyday stuff, excellent price!
#16
GREAT deal this is very very hot deal!
#17
Been looking at these printer for a while now. Very hot deal and now I have purchased one :D
#18
got one for work
3% cashback through CBK
#19
fantastic... heated up!
#20
Ok, I threw caution to the wind and bought one anyway. Spec sheet PDF seems to show ok for Mac but nowhere else does and no drivers online?

PS. Only 17 in stock now. When I started there were 59...

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
#21
Cheaper than buying toner for my CLP300.
Sad isn't it that in a "Green" world I will throw away a perfectly good colour laser printer and buy a new one because its at least 50% cheaper.
#22
wow great deal if you print lots
#23
There is also another deal on the same website: "Xerox 6180n Colour Laser Printer with £125 Cash Back Offer"

http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=XE6180N

Think its £211.49 inc VAT then plus postage of around a fiver if u ok with slow mail. You get cashback from Xerox so it makes it cheaper.

Just in case you want a bigger model.. if someone wants to stick the deal up go for it I haven't got time!!!

No !! In general, lasers are total rubbish for photos.

This is a good printer for the money. However, be aware that it is slow - despite what Xerox might claim the ppm is !

I believe the toner carts for this are the same as the CLP300. Correct me if I'm wrong there.
#26
Nerak80 well spotted "Xerox 6180n Colour Laser Printer with £125 Cash Back Offer" I went for the other on the basis that the toner was cheaper - should I have to resort to original toner, if anyone knows of cheap toner please post here. Thank you all.

I use this in my classroom. They are usually about 14ppm in colour and first print via USB in 20 secs and Ether in about 30 secs.

I recharge the chip with original code and a 24c02 programmer. Quite easy if you have a little electronics knowledge, then use ZINETIC for toner (reasonable price in quantity). Annoying as the refill is a process that happens often (but a good quality for day to day use).

A GREAT tip remove all 8 plastic strips from the developer (not just the 4 long ones), otherwise all sorts of funny things will happen :)

p.s. Insight have a big contract with Xerox and should be back in rather quickly at a guess! :)

Insight selling a good deal...is that a first?

I don't think I have ever found a printer that prints at the speed the manufacturer says. Even if you mess up and print nothing, it still seems slower!

I bought one of these back in July when they were just under £100 and back then I thought this was a good deal - even better now. Bought one for my sister just before they went out of stock. *Phew!*

I got the 6110N a couple of weeks ago and well pleased with it.

You cant use the Samsung toner carts though as different chip.

Anyone know the specific spec diffs between this and the 6110N?
#36
I have the 6110N ,works fine with my imac. i am using the network cable connect to a router. so the printer works with XP,Vista, and most importantly MacOSX..:whistling:

More memory - the 6110N has 64MB, the 6125N has 256MB. 6125N has higher quoted ppm for colour print outs as well as a higher duty cycle (i.e. longer durability)

Got one of these the other month and it prints very good pictures on photo glossy paper.
Loving it, and once the pc sends the data to the printer it prints a lot faster then the epson inkjet I have, superfast at printing pics imo.

So let me get this right. It would be cheaper to buy this printer again, once the inks run out then to buy new toners for it when they run out?
