I was looking for a new graphics card to go with my new drive and stumbled on this on the pc world website. Looks like a really good price with avp game too. Thought I'd share!

Good price for PC world!

These cards are evil, someone could mistake it for a 5870 except for the price. Wouldn't a 5830 be better for the price? If it was PC World instore then I suppose it would be excusable but this is online..

Better than NVidia series. With AMD at least you know that the higher the number, the better the graphics card. With NVidia, the numbers are almost randomly prefixed to the series, so the GeForce GTX 460 SE is nowhere near the performance of a GeForce GTX 470. In fact, the GeForce GTX 460 SE performs worse than the GeForce GTX 460!

These are the single slot cards are they not? Im pretty sure I have seen them cheaper, I don't see why the fact its PC world should make it special.

Considering how close the price is I would take the 5830 over this too.
Would love to replace my 5850, I've had to dial back on settings for the Witcher 2 :p

5830 is faster and has been available for less.

The 5830 isn't an awful lot faster, and you would struggle to find one right now for this money. It is also not as power efficient, and if your power supply is borderline the 5770 is the safer choice.

Hell, you'd struggle to find a 5770 card this cheap anywhere else (not saying you can't), and with the added convenience of being able to pop into a store and buy it there and then (useful if you work).

This is a really good card which is decent for most games at full HD (1920x1080) and I don't get all the hate.

Good deal, even though there are some cracking deals on better cards (6850, 6870, 460 SE) at the minute as well.

Heat added.

As for the comment about the possibility of mixing this up with a 5870... what?

Had one of these myself which had good perfomance and is still working away in my spare lan gaming machine.

The HD 5830 is a fair amount faster with faster clocks and a 256-bit bus. Peak power consumption is obviously a bit more but still not terribly bad. All in all an average deal atm considering the 5830's are around for £80ish

Agreed 5830 is the better buy, plus not a fan of those purple shirt clowns!

You really want a faster card with a 256-bit memory bus when running at 1920x1080 or 1920x1200

A spare LAN gaming machine? Not saying that's a bad thing, I just remember being lucky to have ONE PC back in the LAN days of 2003....
