XFX Core edition 750w PSU £65.99 @ Scan

Just seen this PSU as I am in the market for a new one. Looks to be a good deal but thought I would get it out there to see what other peoples opinions are and if there is any other similar PSUs for the money.
It has all the connectors I would need, 5 year warranty and 62amps on the 12v rail. (I need 50amps for my GTX 295)
It's on the Today Only list just over half way down.
Free delivery if you are a Hexus/AV Forums member.
They also have a Coolermaster one for £56.39 but that only has a 2 year warranty.

I'd go for the antec true power new 650w they have for 60 on today only. It's modular and gets great reviews. Hth

You've got the price wrong, its 65.99.

I bought one yesterday so I hope they're good!

Reviews are positive. manufactured by seasonic apparently, and have conductive Polymer Aluminum Solid Electrolytic Capacitors rated for 105 Celcius

Just seen the price. I have corrected it.
650w is not powerful enough. I have an overclocked quad core with 8GB RAM and a GTX 295 so I need a lot of power.

i'd be very surprised if you're setup uses anywhere near 650w. have a look at the total loads here , for example.

It really does use a lot. My system at the moment uses 723w. I used this to calculatehttp://www.antec.outervision.com/PSUEngine

Heat added!

For a 750w this is a good price. average price from a decent retailer starts from £73. Free delivery from avforums makes this very attractive.

does anyone know what the warranty length is for this xfx psu? and are they manufactured by anyone else?

I know some offer 5-7years and it says a lot when corsair and coolermaster.

According to the Scan.co.uk site it says 60 month. You may need to register within the first 30 days for that mind.

The warranty is 5 years if you register it on the xfx website.

They are made by Seasonic, see my post above.

It's in the today only section.

No the price is £65.99. As I said above you have to go to the Today Only link then scroll down and add to your basket from there.

Great PSU's, single 12v rail makes them ideal for SLI or crossfire systems. XFX are an OK brand for GPU's, but their PSU's are rebranded Seasonic like Corsair so really spot on.

Oh and that system really should not need more than 650W of a decent PSU at peak, but I would always go a little higher if the price is right like this. Only issue with these PSU's is that they aren't modular so you need plenty of space to hide your loose cables.
#14
Is it me or have PSUs not really come down in price in recent years? I remember looking at good PSUs a few years back and the same sort of type would be around the same price.
#15
Good deal but with shipping it's a bit too much for me at the moment :(

i wouldn't place too much faith in those calculators tbh. much better to go by actual tested readings. check out some reviews like the one i linked to that give you total loads. you really wont need more than 650w as long as it's a decent psu.

Scan’s Today Only offers officially expire around midday and not midnight. Glad you remembered anyway as the free postage makes a big difference on cheaper items.

I always like to get more than I need anyway. I have been looking at getting another GPU to take the Physx load off the GTX 295. Also I really do like to overclock as much as I can.

Now ya tell me. Ya should have seen me panicking lol, Completely forgot I used to be a pretty active member of AVforums. For some reason I always think Hexus & Scan. I really should read more than the title.

Never ever buy from Scan unless you enjoy ordering from companies with non existant customer and RMA support.

Greedy company who'll do anything to fu ck you over.
#23
XFX are horrible to deal with for RMA btw .. i speak from bitter experience.
#24
Wow that's exactly what you wanna hear after you've ordered an XFX psu from Scan lol.

wtf striker33

Nothing wrong with scans support anyone doubts me ring scan or hop over to http://www.hexus.net/
and visit scans community forums, as for greedy what company isnt trying to survive and make profit.

Yeah XFX suck on RMA's cant deny that but your point of contact is scan where you bought the unit,as said this xfx unit is made by seasonic so should prove very reliable.

By the way striker33 if you want awesome support go to overclockers.co.uk place a order and when it goes faulty try rma with them then you will see good support lol

I think Scan are great. I ordered cooler master & next day it was about tobe sent out when I rang them & they cancelled the order & refunded me straight away. I didnt have to wait to get through to them either. The guy was very friendly.

I bought this PSU when it was on offer a month or so back for a similar price. It seems extremely well made and can well believe it is by Seasonic. The single rail and high temp capacitors swung it over the need for modular for me as i really am not that bothered that it will look a tad untidy inside. Mines a base unit not a work of art!
