good card - easily keeps up with an 8800GT at a comparable price

... and i may be wrong but i think the drivers are yet to mature meaning they still may squeeze some extra juice out of this thing in the future - though dont take that as gospel

Really? :p

BTW, performance wise 8800GT > 9600GT.
#3
you can get a 8800 GT for less than a hundred now.
#4
Go with the 8800GT every time, especially when there's little (or no) price difference.
#5
£130 is far too much for a 9600GT at stock speed, you can get them for £90-£100. Definitely a cold deal.
#7
from what i can work out with the geforce cards the last 3 numbers are the speed of the card so a 9600 wont beat a 8800. the first number is the series number so a 9600 will have more features than the 8800 but be slower
#8
and the survey says . . .

NO

- this card aint faster than a 8800GT and a lot more expensive that the 8800 has been going for lately. Colder than a snowmans coldbits !

Sorry that's not right at all!
#10
8800 gt is far far faster in a different league and this 9600 is way overpriced!

.. the message here, don't dont buy it!

LOL

In theory, in practice the numbering system is completely stuffed, and nVidia has further broken it by allowing manufacturers to configure the speed and memory bandwidth of some chipsets (like the 9600GSO) as they like.

A 9600GT will outperform an 8800GS.

A 9600GT will outperform an 8800GS.
The 8800GS is significantly cheaper though. Like half the price in some instances, and probably not half the performance.

Awful deal. £20 more gets you TWO 256MB 8800GTs for SLI. Even if you don't wanna go SLI, the fact that at 1280*1024 and below the 256MB 8800GT will pee on this (10%+ faster) and the 8800GT is £60 cheaper...
