XFX R9 280 3GB + 3 free games £159.99 @ Ebuyer

Saw the VTX3D R9 280 2 weeks ago for the same price, this is a slightly better brand though, their PSU's seem to be top notch while GPU's are average but I'm willing to bet XFX are better than VTX3D.

Very good price for an R9 280, you'll only get around ~3FPS more on a 280X (on average), so it's well worth it if you ask me.

I'm personally waiting for the R9 380X to come out so I can purchase a R9 280X for around the £150 mark, but this may help someone out there.

Product details:

Processing:
GPU Boost Clock : 933 MHz
GPU Bus (bit) : 384
GPU Clock : 827 MHz

Memory:
Memory Bus : 384 bit
Memory Clock : 5.0 GHz
Memory Size : 3 GB
Memory Type : DDR5

EDIT: £154.98 as of 08/08/14

Is a 3GB 280x better than a 2GB GTX 770?
#3
I would have thought the 770 would be better by a bit but you could probably get the 280x much cheaper.....
on xfx ,their psus are excellent but mostly as they are made by seasonic (probably one of the top manufacture) as for the gpus they are usually just rebadged reference cards which means there is nothing wrong with them but they aren't the best ,also xfxs warranty's are terrible unless you live in usa

Leaves my hd 7770 Trailing in the Dust at a decent price!

Requires a PSU upgrade tho for sure :|

Tempted to go with an NVIDIA card for a change because of 3D capability.

Good Price Head added.

Mmm this one or the MSI one or pay extra to go for a 280x ?!

Definitely MSI if you want to stick to R9 280. What CPU are you running? R9 280's would better suit AMD FX6300 and bellow imo.

Just make sure you read up on Nvidia's HDMI problems if you're going to use a HDMI to connect to a monitor, was about to buy a GTX 770 until I read the problems it has with colours and stuff via HDMI (which is what I use since my monitor doesn't have DVI, only VGA and HDMI)

I bought a second hand xfx 280x off ebay for my lad last week and I got it and it didnt work so just cost me £11 to send it back !! so now looking at new ! He has a FX6300 on a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 board and plays BF4 a lot so just checking to see if the 280's can do it nearly as good as the 280X's.

He was playing on 7850 crossfire but finding out Crossfire is to temperamental !

Yeah, xfire can be a hassle, but for the games that DID work with it, a 280 would look like a downgrade in all fairness, but it's stability will be a big factor.
If I were you, I'd go for a 280x then, just for the extra juice, but if you can get a cheap R9 290, maybe after selling the two 7850's, you'd be better off tbf, but your CPU may bottleneck it a tiny bit, so either stick to the R9 280x or go with a R9 290, and maybe upgrade the CPU to an 8350 in the future.

I'm surpised how well the FX 6300 handles it self for a cheap build CPU. But yeah i'll keep an eye out for a cheap 280x.

Yep, running one my self at the moment, great CPU, it can definitely hold it's own. (does need a CPU cooler though, stock cooler sounds like a hoover :P)

Yeah when I bought all the parts for my lad for his first build at Xmas I got a Zalman CNPS5X as well and is huge compared to the really small stock cooler, Good air flow through the case and temps are all good.

I cant see the 280x dropping to the £150 so may need to just get a 280 for my Lad.

This should be the price for the R9-280A-TDFD one but it states R9-280A-TDBD

I know! I realized, make sure you tell your lad to check the clocks through software to see if it is in fact the black edition, if so, post that up on HUKD, a bargain! Enjoy it!
