i bought a couple of these for server use handy but show poor benchmark results on several mainboards despite the nice on-board cache,
suspect it is down to the 150 sata? still useful on older machines but only getting 105MBs on a quadcore asus p5 board in cached burst read,,, also some newer 300 drives won't operate with these cards
despite that, "warm" as damm good price if you know what to do with it will do the job fine. but sure they were cheaper when i bought them..

yeah seen em on there loadsa times,
another thing occurred these are very handy for doing cross controller raid migration to new drives if like me you want to preempt your stripe failure, just make sure all raid controllers involved have windows drivers installed prior to migration

I have a couple of these and they're actually quite good provided you don't mind their limitations - array throughput is limited to about 100MB/sec due to the PCI bus bottlenecking and the monitoring software only works with XP and Server 2003, not Vista or Server 2008.

But the beauty of the Revo cards is that they emulate a standard IDE controller card and present the array as one big IDE drive, so no drivers are required to run it and just about any OS can use the array.

cheers for that, never occurred to me it was pci bus, assumed my onboard was also pci and that went a fair bit higher, will look further into it, ya got any decent links?
