Also only 4GB Ram?

I like how they sell a version with 'NOT ACTIVATED WINDOWS 10 HOME ENGLISH EDITION'

(so basically an unlicensed pirated version which they don't quite have the courage to sell pre-cracked)

Part of those instructions:
"Now you need to shell out the extra $119.99 to be able to activate the Windows 10 Home Edition,"

I will buy the Chinese version and save nearly 100GBP from a doggy English version, lol

They are meant to be nicely made devices but I think the lack of touchscreen misses a trick.

I'd rather put my money in one of the refurbed latitude 12 units from mcs. They are. Cheaper, double the ram and storage, the m5 cpu, and I'll take mcs warranty and support over gearbest any day even if it is refurbished.

I know battery life is lower and they aren't the same category device, but it's an option to consider.

Any warranty?

Not pirated, its just not activated so it'll expire in 30/90 days (can't remember which). Anyone can get Windows 10 like this from Microsoft.

Sold from a retailer in China, so pretty much any warranty you get isn't worth the paper (or email it's written on). You'll be required to send it back to China for any support, at your expense and if it's not tracked there's every possibility that the item being returned ends up 'lost in transit'. Gearbest and their ilk are great for low value items, anything more expensive, then stick with a UK or European based company because the aftersales support if you need it will be vastly better.

Piracy is when you don't have a license to run the software. The versions anyone can download from MS are clearly intended for use by people with a valid license, be it an upgrade or retail purchase.
You are authorized to use this software only if you are properly licensed and the software has been properly activated with a genuine product key or by other authorized method.

And that's for an end-user doing it, let alone it being sold with it.

Yep, don't do it. These Chinese websites are fine for low cost items but I certainly wouldn't risk spending more than 30 or 40 quid. There's a good chance you'll also get hit for VAT and Royal Mail's customs processing charge.

If you're going to criticise something/someone, at least know what you're talking about before using your fingers on the keyboard.

What's wrong with all these people sharing deals from Gearbest etc worth 100s of pounds and product may fail in a month.

Overpriced a lot! It's a lot cheaper to buy from xiaomi directly...

Interesting response, shame it's lacking any substance. Perhaps instead you could say how a "not activated" copy of Windows 10 fulfils the specific license criteria I quoted, which is "if you are properly licensed and the software has been properly activated".

Could you please tell me what's mcs? I am planning to buy a refurbished laptop. Thanks.

Totally agree. Regardless of where you buy this device ( from any of Gearbest warehouses) you will be required to send it back to China at your expense. Gearbest have a new policy whereby the may pay the cost of returning items but from what I recall, it's for DOA. But I'm Alice from Gearbest will more than likely join in shortly.

If your going to buy this or any Xiaomi devices from Gearbest or other similar type of retailer, its worth checking the serial code with Xiaomi website to make sure the product is genuine. Just a heads up.

Buy the i5 version ... wipe it ... install Mint Linux on it.
You have a nice 1080p laptop. 8)

What's the legit chinese only version got to do with the unactivated English version I was talking about?
