I might be wrong but spec shows its only a 3G band phone.

However heat for the find, not a bad spec for a secondary phone or work phone!

I have the 16GB LTE version, and I can't fault it. Cracking deal.

What Android version is that?

Good phone for a great price. Just be aware that this looks lie it will not get upgraded to Nougat due to the CPU and chipset.

This has Snapdragon 801, the article refers to SD800. Are they different?

Worth the little bit extra for this then over the redmi 3 pro?
Any downsides to this over the redmi 3 pro?

Off the top of my head, this is faster with more storage, but has no SD card slot, no fingerprint scanner and no 4G.

I think the SOC is basically the same just a faster clock speed of the SD 800. A bit like the SD 820 and the new SD 821. Someone feel free to correct me if im wrong.

I've got an Mi3, fantastic phone. Much better feel than the Redmi 3, which I didn't rate. I'd get this all day long, although it was only £90 new a few months ago.

Are you sure about that? My redmi note 3 just got MIUI8 but it's still android 5.1 based.

Yes, I'm sure. Either that, or the information in 'About Phone' is telling fibs.

Having said that, the upgrade to MM came with the update to MIUI 7.5.

Fair enough, I just assumed a specific version of MUIU would be based on a specific android version. Obviously it's not that simple. MUIU 8 on my Note 3 is still 5.1.1 based, but it should be getting MM soon.

I have the 16GB LTE version. If I hammer it, it lasts a whole day and into the evening til about 9pm. If I go lightly, I can get two days.

Possibly. When you get it, just flash the global ROM. No Chinese stuff and Google play installed. Happy days.

Yep this is sold as the 'international version' with Google play installed

for an app, app drawer, I can recommend ZenUI Asus launcher which is great and free on the Play store.

banggood have the "Xiaomi Mi4 5-inch 2GB RAM 16GB ROM Snapdragon 801 Quad core 4G Smartphone" for £93

however, the 4G band is just for China Telecom, so no good in the UK.

Looks more like a copy of a Galaxy Alpha. Thing is there's only so many reasonable ways to make smartphones while still being useful, Apple aren't innovating anyway, the iPhone 7 will show that and I really hope it's their downfall so we get something exciting and fresh soon.

Gearbest is not like Amazon as there's no third-party sellers, it's closest to Amazon first-party only.

Why a secondary or work phone?! Its great as a primary phone!
#33
Is this worth an upgrade from a OnePlus One 1?
#34
Xiaomi and Microsoft did an experiment with the LTE version of the Mi4 and you can flash that to Windows Mobile 10, I don't know if this one can have that done or if anyone would want to. Just saying.
#35
Good deal, however I am surprised it is not
dual band WiFi (AC)

Listed spec is :
WIFI: 802.11b/g/n wireless internet

Good deal, have had the redmi 3 and its been a great phone. This is almost the same price but comes with Marshmallow based ROM. Personally having spent years installing custom ROMS on phones I find MIUI an excellent ROM which has so many useful features already built in.

Now my issue is my distinct dislike for white phones, I know the back cover can be easily changed. Somewhere I saw a screen protector with black borders, which would cover the front white faceplate nicely - but can't seem to find it again - if anyone has a link ?
#39
NO NFC, so no android pay supported in the UK

Looks a good phone for the money, would I be charged import tax or vat if I bought it?
