Price is without the aliexpress warranty, with it, its £124.54(to remove the warranty change your location to USA, then change it back once you have placed it in your cart).

Think everyone knows all about this phone.

When you trying to find the best price, ensure you are comparing like with like. Sellers need to say it has B20 or 800mhz band, this is the global version. If it says global rom or international it probably isn't the 'global version'.

On aliexpress there is no official Xiaomi stores, there are a few stores that pretend to be, they are all just retailers.

For cases and screen protectors, look for ones advertised for Redmi Note 4X or that specify Global Version Redmi Note 4. Snapdragon model has updated housing but cases advertised as 'Redmi Note 4' will most likely be for the original Mediatek housing, and won't fit this phone correctly.

Would you not need to add vat and a fee if caught by customs?

Also it states delivery of 20-40 days.

Yes, but that goes for any website based in China, its pot luck but the odds are better if you don't choose DHL.

It states B20 under 'Main Features' and 'Specifications' in the description. Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon 'Global Version' = B20 model. The Chinese non B20 equivalent is Redmi Note 4X which the same seller has a listing for here. In that listing's description, the seller provides a table of differences that denotes one of the key differences is that the 'Redmi Note 4 Global Version' has B20.

Some of the higher end one's do. The Mi Mix and the Mi Note 2 (I think), also the new Mi Max 2, which should be out today. . .

I know that it says 20-40 days delivery. Does anyone know how long things take to come as a rule?

I'd agree, although perhaps nearer the 16. Sometimes it takes what seems like ages before it leave the seller, 5 days isn't unusual before it gets picked up by the courier.

I bought this via the Xiaomi store on Aliexpress ie £122 listing to avoid uncertainties regarding the firmware so that OTAs can be received in the future without fiddling.
But if it gets infected and then rooted not by the user, OTAs will no longer work.
Then, you will need to reflash original firmware so OTAs can work again.
Any thoughts on Fantasy on AlieExpress?

Fantacy are ok, ordered from them previously. You are aware there are no official Xiaomi stores on Aliexpress? Bit sneaky IMO, people assume it's an official store.

Fantasy has been on Aliexpress since 2011, the 'official' store has only been there since last year. When they say 'official' i think they are using the term very loosely, it sell 'Official' xiaomi products but i don't think its Xiaomi's own store.

I ordered mine on the 14th April at 8am. According to the tracking it's in the air as we speak. Can take twice as long once it lands waiting to be cleared thru customs based on some om my buying cheap items ie cables etc.
Will update when recieved but in my experience it can be as little as three weeks but I have had to waith over 6 on some occasions, so as others have said it is a bit of a lottery.

There's several with NFC, Mi5 being the cheapest I believe.

My one from the 'official' store took 12 days, got it 2 days after arriving in UK. My mi band 2 took over 2 months...

I went with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X "new" off eBay in the end. Needed it sooner and happy to pay the extra £20 (£140 ish) for quicker delivery and slightly easier to return if an issue. The seller had two listed if interested.

Am I right in saying the 4X and Global 4 use the exact same case? This phone is to be used as a replacement landline and remote for AV setup in living room so need to IR Blaster to have clear view.

Yes should use the same case. Is the 4x on ebay the global version with band 20? This one doesn't have band 20.

Cheers. Sold as the Global version but no, I don't think 800MHz was listed, but then I never saw that on the Fantacy link either. Band 20 is not an issue for me personally either way, so long as there's no other limitations.

EDIT: Apologies, yes further down on AliExpress it list's B20.

All the websites are quite bad at mixing up 'international', 'global' and 'global rom', any one would think its deliberate ;-)

Indeed! Mine was advertised as:
UK WARRANTY
Original Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X(Snapdragon 625/3GB RAM /32GB ROM)
Official Global firmware, support multiple languages + OTA update + Google play store

Starting to wonder what I'm going to see when I power it on. Is B20 to only real difference?

Yeah just B20, there might be another frequency missing aswell but its not used in UK so doesn't matter. O2(GiffGaff/tesco) are the main user, but its also used on other networks to a much lesser extent. If you are not on an O2 network you are not going to notice, it will just use a 3g frequency instead of 4g in a few locations.

Is this the exact same phone as posted in this deal last week?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/global-version-xiaomi-redmi-note-4-aliexpress-xiaomi-online-store-127-54-2662408

The wording is slightly different (Original Global as apposed to Offical Global) so i'm not 100% sure...

Also, do these phones have Gorilla glass or will they shatter if dropped accidentally? Buying for the wife who hates screen protectors (I know I know, she won't listen to me. I have screen protectors on my phones).

Strangely just been looking at YouTube video which suggests they have neither gorilla or dragon tail glass.
