Because it often doesn't cover Band 20. This one explicitly does.

They are finally arriving

Is the Note 3 supposed to be better? Something about the processor?

I'll be watching for somebody answering this. I have the Note 3 (awesome for the £) but would consider the note 4 if it was significantly better.

Your statement leads me to believe the contrary my be true.

I think this video has the Mediatek version of the Note 4 not the Snapdragon.

Was just about to order an Honor 5C. Is this a better alternative?

Interesting. Didn't know there was different versions with different processors! Ta

Get the Note 3 SE, it has a Snapdragon cpu and is the best phone I've ever had
#13
The looks of Note 4 are very much superior than those of Note 3.
#14
As per video review note 4 has better camera.
#15
Had planned to get a Moto G4 but the many complaints about the "ghost touch" fault has put me off totally.
Any recommendations for a decent phone I could pick up at around £150?
#16
can't find anywhere with such specs. the only SD version was Indian edition and they lacked lots of LTE band

I believe this phone has the mediatek processor, the 4X is a slight upgrade with the snapdragon version.

Scroll down the aliexpress page. It gives you a side-by-side comparison of all of their flavours on offer. The global version has band 20 (800Mhz) and a Snapdragon 625 processor and the major differences are all highlighted. It seems that the only colour that you can order is in gold at the moment.

I had the note 3 se, really fast, excellent screen but a issue with the call disconnecting or when someone calls it goes voicemail first and on the second call it rings etc forced me to get rid, seemed like an iPhone 4 antennagate type issue, this looks like it has the antenna lines outside dunno how much difference it will make.

Any idea when the Moto G5 Plus is out? What is this like compared to that?

Processing power advantage goes to Note 3 with Snapdragon 650 but battery life is a win for Note 4 Snapdragon 625. Although both are excellent, Note 4 is not as good for gaming.

Read this as redmi 4 and was going to order good deal for someone in the market for a good quality 5.5" screen with full UK band support

I want this spec in the redmi 4 with the 5" screen, have to keep waiting a bit longer...
#24
as others have said. compared to the redmi note 3 se
better battery life
likely to receive more software updates
day to day usage will be comparable performance wise
slower GPU so won't be as good for gaming, sure it'll be ok though unless wanting to play high end games.

Hopefully but they only seem to add band 20 to the note series

The Redmi Note 4X Taiwan release has B20 and is Snapdragon. However this listing says Redmi Note 4 on the box. I have a feeling it may be the Indonesian SD model. Unboxing video here, showing the same packaging as shown in the Aliexpress listing. "Global Version" sticker at the side and CE1317 certification. The India Redmi Note 4 has a "Made in India" mark at the back and no "Global Version" sticker. No info on the Indonesian MI site, however the page for their Redmi 4A version supports the same bands (incl. B20) so this model is likely an Indonesian version that is named Redmi Note 4 like the Indian variant, but supports the same bands as the Taiwan Note 4X.

better than mi max.. noooo any phone
#28
Great deal, got the note 3 SE on the previous deal so I reckon I'll get this for the missus or someone.
So frustrating that they have so many versions of phones without any real clarity of what phone you're actually getting.
#29
For the camera, note 3 se or note 4 with snapdragon? Any real comparison?
1 Like #30
Note 3 is better for performance
Also likely to get better aftermarket support
Note 4 has a better screen and battery
Both have mediocre cameras
Both have the same fingerprint scanner
Redmi Note 4 is more premium, unibody metal

If you want insane battery, get the Note 4
If you want better performance and custom roms, get the Note 3

Both are very good
#31
Does the Note 4 have plastic top and bottom rear covers like the 4X?
#32
Think I'll stick with my Redmi Note 3 (global rom but no band 20) until things become a little more clear.

Love the phone but not without its little frustrations.

Yes really confusing and stupid where you have to spot CE marks to determine what product is inside.

Wish they made the MI models with band 20. Obviously the Chinese think either we are not privileged enough to get their better models or we are too skinflint.

If you don't want to take any risks, (From what you've said, sounds like you like to play it safe,) consider the P8 Lite from Vodafone for £150. You may have to pay £15 to get it unlocked but if you have a problem, you have a shop to take it back to.

Guys, can you recommend a comparison website, or better still, is there a site where you can put in what you want from a phone and it makes suggestions?

I have a Nokia Lumia 925 which I love the camera on. I'm also not that fussed on going bigger. I'd like better battery and I use it for email, basic web browsing, info on the move (trip advisor, weather, trains) - no real gaming or heavy ap usage.

The camera and battery is important to me. But, I'd like to go back to android. And not spend more than about £100. And not get a contract. And keep it at 5" or less.

Am I better sticking for the time-being?

Moto G5 plus to be released in UK/Europe "mid spring", read somewhere that means late April... price wise: "€279 for 3GB and 32GB storage, and in the UK it will cost £259" if you want a high end camera and stock Nougat it is worth the wait... I am waiting, should appear for Amazon pre orders in mid to late March perhaps? that Redmi one I think is best of the cheap options if you don't care about camera and stock android...
