waiting to see who comes in and comments first that they saw a panorama programme that revealed none of this supplement lark works ... but in the meantime, for what they are/62p a bar is a good price.

62p is a cost of a chocolate bar so this maybe better at same price to snack on.

I agree with the Panorama programme ...been getting better results sticking to good diet as source of protein and using a protein shake only after a weights session..working very well ,no worse than when I was downing lots of protein shakes and spending £50+ per month.
However this is a good deal for what you get ...so voting hot on this.

    too much soy

Good price but like all the "protein" snacks they are mostly carbs. Spend the cash on some Jerky, it tastes great and is high in protein without the extra carbs.

What Panorama missed (not hard for a very message pushing bunch of t**ts) is that most people who use protein based snacks and shakes purely do it for convenience, have you seen the price of tins of tuna and corned beef etc? It costs a fortune to get large amounts of protein in a whole form.

I'd love to be able to do it from diet but it just isn't practical, great deal for 40 x 70g bars.

actually they did, it was called black soup, melas zomos in greek, made with pigs blood and legs...

I think they largely ate meaty broths called black broth or something. Basically a throw it all in stew which included a pig, veg and olives.

They also drank a lot of milk and were more active during the day so needed the extra carbohydrates vs modern training where we are sedentary for 18 hours a day.

Protein shakes are a convenience food, not a magic elixir. Have a shake after the gym rather than cooking yourself an extra meal a day.

I don't disagree with any of that...it's just that I tend to eat 3-4 x per day anyway and I was doing that AND using shakes...this was what was wasting a lot of money for me.
But I agree with you ...protein replacements are good for people on the go. However beware ...the body stores excess protein as fat so you have to get the amounts just about right.
