Xmas Turkey dinner and drink for £3.99 @ Wetherspoons

So my friend and I were out on the razz when I noticed a sign at Wetherspoons, Reading (Hope tap) offering a Turkey Xmas dinner and a drink for £3.99. Upon checking, this includes Carling, Strongbow, Guiness and single spirits with mixer.

Had I not just dominated a Nando's I may well have been tempted. Not sure if Nationwide. Cheers

Also a Mince pie made by 'Pete' was half price at 39p at the same pub. Who pete is and if he produces a good pie is another thing

Well you weren't expecting it to be hot for £3.99 were you?

Our staff dinner there was stone cold. It wasn't even that busy.

Better still, the starters came out with the main course and the pudding came along an hour after our plates had been cleared. There were only 10 of us. :|

Anyway, I think 'll stick to their beer and burger deals or £2.99 fish and chips before 5pm. :D

I won't/don't go in there. I'm just commenting on a 'deal'. Is it only people who vote these things HOT who can comment?

"a drinks a drink wherever you go"

No it's not.

I drink in Wetherspoon's and they are fine pubs and they serve cheap food and drink. What's not to like?

The fact that many of their pubs have Cask Marque awards for their beer tells me that their cask beer is really excellent.

Any crappy pub can serve bottled drinks and keg beers, lagers and ciders, but a decent real ale is a sign of a well-run pub.

Depends on who the chef is.... as an example, sometimes pizza hut is sh*te and sometimes really nice.

Same ingredients different chefs

Generally I've found Wetherspoons to be great for drink (price and choice wise)

Average for food, never had an awful meal there but never had a brilliant one either. You get what you pay for in other words

I guess it depends how much the atmosphere of a place effects your enjoyment of a drink.

But yes, if you drink for drinks sake, you may as well be down an ally way with a bottle of White Lightening.

Good deal, though don't think its nationwide (I've been in a couple of 'spoons this week and no mention of this in either). I've had the Xmas dinner a couple of times though and its not too bad in my opinion, even for the original £5.99 inc pint of real ale.

Wetherspoons vary on food our local one is a nice pub and the drinks are ok priced, but the food is poor and cold on average so im going to have vote warm on this...

Didn't the boss of wetherspoons do a ratners by claiming he was proud they had no chefs just blokes who warmed stuff up in a microwave?

Wouldn't eat there but for 4 quid you can't moan...

voted Stone cold wetherspoons are rubbish they have gone downbank so much in the last year there food is at best poor there chips are so bad very cheap frozen rubbish luckily you only get 6 of them, and there veg again cheap frozen rubbish, but the main problem is there staff they don't care a jot they serve whoever they look at no matter if you have been standing there 10mins they have these food nights, curry night cheap awful curry for people who arn't into curry, steak night tough badly cooked steak if thats what you call it, there pubs are getting downright dirty, and i speak from experience i went into one in a few weeks ago i had to get someone to remove what looked like an emptied skip from under the table, before i sat down, the staff just walk past the dirty tables instead of clearing a table every time they bring food out, they used to be pleasant pubs now they'rejust a place for dole wallers to take there brats for a cheap meal the lower the prices the rougher the people i've stopped going in them now i would sooner pay full price for my beer and sit with decent people who don't sit a foot from each other and shout at each other when they talk, like a dog barking at another dog

With regard to the deal itself. It's hot as Christmas dinner is usually £5.99 at Wetherspoons.

As to the chain itself and the quality of its environment, beer, food.

Let not kid ourselves, the food is boil in the bag/microwaed but for £3.99 with a drink. what's not to like. It wont kill you.

I always go for the burger and chips or fish and chips as it's freshly made and tastes quite ok.

Yeah it is eloquent as he words his argument well and sources it too. You, however, have just written three words, an unsourced opinion with no grounding. You, sir, have been schooled in how to argue effectively.
