Ever since the X-Mini Capsule Speaker appeared in 2008, we have been completely blown away by the absolutely astounding sound quality and volume that these little gems produce! The X-Mini Capsule Speaker regularly stops customers in their tracks at our retail store, people cannot believe that what they are hearing is eminating from these handy pocket sized units.
So when we heard that XMI the company responsible for the X-Mini, was launching a new version, we were suitably excited!

We are very glad to report that the X-Mini II doesn't disappoint, again the boffins have succeeded in getting a Quart out of a Pint pot!

Retaining all of the best features from the groundbreaking first generation unit, the second generation comes with a number of innovations that combine to create a greater audio experience for the user.

Larger Driver.
The first and most recognisable difference with the X-Mini II is that it's slighly larger than the original model. The X-Mini II now boasts a 40mm driver, that delivers an even richer and fuller sound.

Longer Battery Life.
The X-Mini II now boasts an improved battery life, a staggering 11 hours of continuous playback from just one charge.

"Buddy Jack" Design.
A brand new feature to the X-Mini II is the "Buddy Jack" system. This allows you to connect one X-Mini II to another and another and... well, you get the picture. Capable of forming a near endless "Daisy Chain". Combine your X-Mini II with your friend's for quite simply jaw dropping audio!

Built In 3.5mm Audio Connection.
The refinement of the original X-Mini continues with the inclusion of an inbuilt 3.5mm audio connection cable. No more running the risk of forgetting to pack the charging/connection lead when you leave... the connection cable is always in reach. The audio cable neatly slips away underneath the speaker when not in use.

These are really great speakers. I have bough 6 of them for Christmas present, and a few for me. Great price you have found too.

I'll probably end up buying a few of these

Don't expect too much from these speakers.
I bought some last time I saw some on here, swayed by comments like "amazing quality", "very loud". They're slightly louder than a phones speaker, and that's about it. I bought 2 and a splitter cable, and was still left unimpressed.

I won't vote either way. Just giving a heads-up on these speakers.

I rekon it depends what you compare it to. It's not a 2.1 system, not a replacement for your tv speakers either. I find that this speaker is best if you're on the move, so for students and for holidays, it's perfect. I tend to use mine with an mp3 player when cooking in the kitchen. Does the job fine.

I was a little underwhelmed by these too - but I was comparing them to the Altec Lansing Orbit which is bigger and uses 3 x AAA batteries. For what they are though and for the price they're good - but the AL Orbit is much better in sound terms.

Thanks for the above posts- looks like I wont be buying these after all

I have 3 of these and think they are great. At first the sound/volume was just good but then i downloaded the volume tweak for my iphone and the volume on the speakers is very noticeably louder. So maybe the above posters had the speakers plugged into something that was limited and the speakers themselves are not the problem? Just a thought.:whistling:

I purchased these from advanced mp3 ( quidco too ) last week 2 for £19.99 plus £2.30 postage and was very impressed with the sound quality, I also plugged it into my Satio phone for alarm clock and it was amazing :)

There is a volume boost option built into itunes, which can be applied to all music and video in your library. But I too was not that impressed with this.

Haven't voted cold though, because it is just a personal opinion. Others seem to love these

not sure, however the xmi has exellent reviews on amazon, never seen anything reviewed that highly. Price now £12.72 up and down like a yoyo

I think you need to take it for what it is, a 40mm speaker. The beauty of it is it charges of your pc and does not require batteries and gives a relative good sound as can be seen in numerous youtube videos. Its the size of a golf ball and easily fits in your pocket so music on the move for others to hear.

Its aimed at teens that obviously will love it for all the right reasons, its cool portable and makes enough noise regarding the size. Its not for audiophiles but it brings your ipod out for the masses.

If you want to hear without headphones on the move this is possibly the best option for the price.;-)

Yup, will be same sound quality. I've got the one from Aldi's which also picked up at £9.99 way back. Have seen it instore recent also. (It's white tho but same otherwise)

Have compared it with a mate who bought the X-mini one and it's identical in operation.

If you look at the stats that one has a 2 hour battery life as against 11 hours?? it may sound the same but give me the battery life any day of the week

I can highly recommend these, I bought 2 to play music/listen to the radio off my netbook while on holiday. Compact, good quality sound and ideal for travel. My children also plug their MP3s into them for music in the appartment.... excellent.

You can dasiy chain them together to up the maximum volume, 2 give me all the volume we need.

They are good quality for the price. But remember to unscrew the woofer thing. I didn't (and didn't read the instructions!) and couldn't work out why they sounded so rubbish. D'oh!

Never measured how long the batt lasts to be honest ... but it does last long. Think I've only charged it twice in the months I've had it. But then I don't play it constantly .. guess I'll try run it flat from a full charge one day ;-)

My mother bought one of these to be portable with her Ipod Touch. I thought the sound was really loud and useful in certain situations. Unfortunately as I needed a new MP3 player I bought a new Sony at the same time and the volume is restricted so the X-Mini is useless for this use as the Sony Mp3 players output volume is too low. (EU rules already getting into force?)

However, I had the opportunity to use the Ipod Touch with the original one and daisy chain into it at the same time and the sound level increased dramatically. I was quite surprised considering they were both only a few inches from each other. Although the audio quality is limited, that experience made me want to own a pair if I had the Ipod.

Just to note, the usb to mini usb cable supplied to attach to your computer to power has an additional 3.5mm jack on a long enough lead built in to enable you to plug the device into USB port of a laptop on one side and the headphone socket on the other to use as a louder speaker for your laptop with constant power!

With a laptop, careful you don't up the volume too far though or it gets upset! Amplification in a winamp type player can overwhelm it. Also, unscrew the device (it pops open resembling an accordian) to let the bass work and you can happily watch the thing jumping along the table at the end of its leash!
