XMI X-mini II Mini Speaker reduced to £13.11 at Amazon

This was posted fairly recently and then expired as the price went up. It's now back in stock at this price (as I posted on the earlier thread) but thought it was worth a new thread in its own right given the excellent ratings this gets.

Hope this helps someone.

I ordered two of these yesterday at this price - cheapest I've seen. Meant to order a few weeks ago, but the price has been going up and down like a yo-yo. Hope they're as good as everyone claims.

It'll be interesting to see if the X-Mini Max 2 can top this speaker on performance or price (at a later stage!) when they are released on 5 December - currently available for pre-order at £34.99 from Play. Great price for this model though - Hot!

white one is showing in stock now

anyway, at three times the price its not really a competitor.

I'm pretty sure that you get two for that price, it comes as an egg shape unit that splits into two speakers, thus "speakers" not speaker in the header at play.com. Have seen them going for £32, so at £16 each it's not much more if you were planning on a couple (though I appreciate not everyone is...

Is there any way to make these stereo? I.e. if you buy two?
#11
ok yes the Max2 gives you a pair, making it worth considering..

yes you can use the mini2 (original post) as stereo if you buy 2 and a suitable splitter

also.. amazon have the Max2 pairs in stock in various colours for £33 e.g.,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/XMI-X-Mini-Max-Portable-Speakers/dp/B002PK1CPK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1258908303&sr=1-4

something is funny with their stock system though because if your search for xmi they show 1-2 months
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_p_6_0?rh=n%3A560798%2Ck%3Axmi%2Cp_6%3AA3P5ROKL5A1OLE&bbn=560798&keywords=xmi&ie=UTF8&qid=1258908303&rnid=367776011

anyone else fed up with huge sites and automated stock control systems that are never really correct.

You would require something like this.

Robert

you cant make it stereo by splitting. Thats just two speakers playing mono. Stereo actually allows two different things to be played on each side but usually you hear the same thing in both, some songs etc do create effects which you wont get. that said you can still just split it and hear the same thing in both, no harm done, just so you know.

I have corrected my link :)

Have you tried this yourself?

Great little speaker, amazing sound for the size and price. Uses an internal charge so doesn't drain your mp3 players batteries.
#17
got one of these last week for crimbo. Couldn't believe the sound coming from something so small!! now everyone else here wants one lol

Have you tried this yourself?
No, I have not tried it personally. I see no reason why it wouldn't work providing the source is capable of outputing stereo through a 3.5mm socket (- the headphone socket on an mp3 player or laptop/netbook for example). As someone has already mentioned, the stereo separately won't be that great though. I bought one of these speakers when it was posted previously but mono is fine for my particular requirements. It's a great little speaker - why are some people voting this deal cold?

I have a couple of these, great little speakers when you want good sound out and about. I use them when me and the mates take a trip somewhere and lounge in the sun (they haven't had a lot of use lately).

As the other OP says it would only double up the mono capability. But that's great because it increases the soundstage. Due to the size of them stereo isn't really worth it because you would need to sit them far enough apart and them have them firing directly towards you to get the benefits. Which you're not going to do. So mono is fine for these little crackers (whether you have 1, 2 or more).

"Allows a stereo signal to be split in to Left and Right signals" - that's exactly what would be required surely? Note the Q&A under frequently asked questions. That question has been asked.

Got a notification as I was checking out that the price of the speakers had increased since I put them in my basket lol they're now £13.15... Amazon adding an extra 4 pence on because people are ordering lol
#26
Now £13 exactly.

I have one and i love it!

I think this is the cable, if you want to have proper stereo, looks about right to me:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hosa-YMP137-stereo-minijack-socket/dp/B000068O5E/ref=pd_sim_ce_4

Originally as you normally currently use it, the X-mini will combine both LEFT + RIGHT signals into the one speaker. this cable (going into your mp3 player) will split the left and right channels to each of the sockets so only LEFT and only RIGHT can be received by each X-mini.

Also amazon does it its "frequently bought together"

Ordered late Saturday evening, dispatched Sunday. Can't knock that.

I can't recommend the wee beauty's enough. The sound is incredible for the size of them. I use 2 of them on my iPod Touch and I can't decide which is the better gadget.

They come fully charged and I've yet to charge mine. I got them in August and I use them a couple of times a week.

£13.89 now but still available and still a great price so not sure whether it's necessary to expire this one just yet
