XMI X-mini II Mini Speaker £15.50 @ Amazon

I'll try to keep the price updated

Ever since the X-Mini Capsule Speaker appeared in 2008, we have been completely blown away by the absolutely astounding sound quality and volume that these little gems produce! The X-Mini Capsule Speaker regularly stops customers in their tracks at our retail store, people cannot believe that what they are hearing is eminating from these handy pocket sized units.
So when we heard that XMI the company responsible for the X-Mini, was launching a new version, we were suitably excited!

We are very glad to report that the X-Mini II doesn't disappoint, again the boffins have succeeded in getting a Quart out of a Pint pot!

Retaining all of the best features from the groundbreaking first generation unit, the second generation comes with a number of innovations that combine to create a greater audio experience for the user.

Larger Driver.
The first and most recognisable difference with the X-Mini II is that it's slighly larger than the original model. The X-Mini II now boasts a 40mm driver, that delivers an even richer and fuller sound.

Longer Battery Life.
The X-Mini II now boasts an improved battery life, a staggering 11 hours of continuous playback from just one charge.

"Buddy Jack" Design.
A brand new feature to the X-Mini II is the "Buddy Jack" system. This allows you to connect one X-Mini II to another and another and... well, you get the picture. Capable of forming a near endless "Daisy Chain". Combine your X-Mini II with your friend's for quite simply jaw dropping audio!

Built In 3.5mm Audio Connection.
The refinement of the original X-Mini continues with the inclusion of an inbuilt 3.5mm audio connection cable. No more running the risk of forgetting to pack the charging/connection lead when you leave... the connection cable is always in reach. The audio cable neatly slips away underneath the speaker when not in use.

Just ordered one to go with my Compaq netbook I recieved this week, also a UKHD.

Off to shopaholics counselling session next week!

But now with netbook, speaker and Spotify I can have unlimited tunes anywhere......

Bought one of these with a Cowon S9 a couple of month's back and it's a cracking wee speaker. You an also buy another and daisy chain them I'm told.

Battery life quoted at 11 hours and I've got damn close to that before recharging. Haven't ever let it go totally dead though so couldn't tell you exactly how close.

Lovely sound for such a small thing, obviously not to replace "proper" speakers, but perfect for the poolside or hotel room on holiday.

H&R added to the OP, the reviews on Amazon are outstanding.

Although for the price of a pint extra you can make yourself feel all warm inside every time you use your speaker. (it's £19.99, but every penny of that goes straight to charity).

Sounds like a great wee product. And even better if you buy it at advance mp3 players and give £20 to charity at the same time!

I also noticed that, but for the extra 29 pence then I would rather deal with Amazon rather than a Amazon Market Trader; plus their deals aren't allowed on HUKD.

Thanks, ordered!

..possibly an EL Cheapo copy or vice versa ..however works suprisingly well
.. again wouldn't suprise me if they're sourced from the same factory but badged up for different "affordability" markets
..cue the sony & akai or was it aiwa walkmans? ..similar internals but different badges .. and they commanded significantly different prices too!!

i had the older model of these and the sound quality is awesome for its size. it beats all off my mates internal laptop speakers and the wires are retrackable so no nasty spaghetti.
my only problem is that the wire to the headphonejack is kind of thin and became loose and stop working,
also you cant charge and play at the same time since you will get a bit of distort (could just be the model i had)
i hope they improve these faults in this model
this is probably the best sound you can get for this size and price, the bass is good too.

alot of my friends got some for their laptops and mp3 and they love them.
since mine is broken i might get these

edit: i just notice that you only get one speaker which kinds of suck since i got 2 with the older model, hopefully these are more of an improvement to justify me buying two
#17
Thanks just ordered after reading the reviews.
#18
I'm assuming that it's just one speaker, so not stereo. Can someone confirm this.
#19
Can anyone in the know let me know how this compares sound wise to the Altec-Lansing IM 207 Orbit speaker (which is fab but has a really badly designed rotating on/off switch)?

Gone up in price to £19.99

The two you have are probably the Mini Max, this deal is for the new version of the original mini.

And this, is apparently what the Mini Max II will look like;

Possibly, but in this case probably not, XMI have won 2 design awards for their Bass Expansion System, and are big on brand identity.

You can buy a second one and use a line splitter for stereo, at this size though, it's not a huge loss.

Now up/down to £17.99
#23
Hmmm, dunno if I should wait a few days
#24
Mine just arrived, it's stonking.

For its size, it really thumps - bargain even at the higher price of £20. If you can pick it up cheaper, get two :D

Yep, amazon's gone back up - though some resellers are still at £16 (though you probably have to put postage on top of that).

Still a bargain if you get to hear one, they're great, seriously.

Mine arrived yesterday, it's superb.

Knocks the spots off the laptop speakers and has played Spotify music tracks for 10 hrs so far and still going strong.........

Highly recommended.

Totally agree - absolutely amazing, brilliant bit of kit. Opened mine at work today and connected it to an iPod - was snapped out of my hands for £20 by a colleague who heard it and was totally amazed at the sound quality and portability! Others are now going to order them as well! Amazon price is now down to £18.32, with 3 to 6 week dispatch, and maybe worth a re-post??!! Many thanks OP - brilliant find!

Out of curiosity, which colour did you all get? Others seemed to get the red one when I posted a mini II deal a few weeks back, however I got the black gloss one, like these bad boys;

Can you not choose your colour? Iam tempted-but dont think I will use them enough to warrant buying them.

I received mine earlier this week but only picked it up from the post office yesterday (was out when it was being delivered). I am pleasantly surprised that it plugs directly to the original iPhone without any modification to the plug necessary.

Sound wise, I'd say that they are alright. I don't buy speakers that often, so I don't have much to compare to. It does sound better than the speakers on my laptop, but at the cost of left-right separation. It still doesn't sound nearly as good as a good headphone in this price range though.

At £16, I think that it's reasonably (hot) if you can find a use for it. I'll use it in the dance room at the gym when no one's around and when I am tired of wearing headphones.

Worth pointing out that the default is Amazon Marketplace and to buy from Amazon themselves you need to look to the right hand side of the loading page
