Many thanks, I'm torn between this and the Neo (if it ever arrives), I thought the Arc was a little too big for my pocket. The thought of Destruction Derby anywhere is swaying me towards this.

I find it hard to trust review sites as their opinion appears to be easily influenced by advertising revenue...

Is there a way to purchase the games without havinthe phone? Mines due for delivery today/tomorrow.

very good phone. haven't rooted it or anything yet.
got loads of free apps but the best bit is the emulators.
I've been playing Super Street Fighter from the snes and I've got earthworm jim game lined up ready. Also gonna install Sonic the Hedghog from the genesis.
The dedicated controls are a godsend.

i don't get it, i just about understood my psp when i was sat waiting for college lessons and played that, but why is it so good to have amazing games on your PHONE?????
#9
So that you don't have to carry a PSP or DS or 3DS too.
#10
Would be nicer if the Play was more powerful. LG Optimus 3D looks the business - just need a PS certified edition and it would be superb.
#11
Thought the PSP died?
Why so excited about this?

An NGP phone... now that's another story :)

The spec of the Xperia Play would have been great a year ago when 1Ghz phones were top spec. I can't understand why Sony didn't push the power for this to really make it a top seller. As is it isn't really doing that well, most people are still opting for Galaxy S2, Desire S and Arc.
#13
People bought this thing? Oh dear...

So that you don't have to carry a PSP or DS or 3DS too.

It is not a substitute for a 3DS (More powerful, different games etc), which you could play your DS games on.

So it is only a substitute for a PSP, which has had about 3 new games all year, and will soon (if not already) be redundant due to the next Sony Handheld.

yeah i managed to pick up genesis and ps1 emulator and the games work a treat, mint for having a blip while the missus watches eastenders

The games are the best thing about this phone. It's not a great smartphone, freezes and feels very unresponsive compared to say, an iPhone4.

Games for £1? Brilliant :)

not bad, would have liked the dual core but to be honest I don't actually need one and wouldn't make full use of it anyway.
Main reason was because it is the best one my network had to offer when i was due an upgrade and as staff I get it very cheap.
Could technically get another phone on another network and it would still be cheaper than most peoples smart phone contracts.

YAY, GAMES!

I love my xperia play, it works fine if you use an app like android booster every now and then to clear programs from taking up all the RAM,

Best phone by a country mile for emulators, Fpse works a treat for PS1 games and all the "oid" emulators work perfectly for other systems like GBA, GBC, SNES, NES and megadrive.

My main gripe is how long it takes to boot up from being completely turned off, so I only ever put it to sleep.

Battery life is more than enough to last for a day with a trip to work and back on the bus/train full of gaming.

I'd recomment getting Galaxy On Fire 2 for anyone who gets this phone, I had the first one for my ipod touch and it was a brilliant game let down by unresponsive touchscreen controls, something that is not a problem with this version.

Yay, just got this phone for my new husband..
some peace when I want to use the laptop... ;)
Anyone interested in this phone look at e2 save -
phone is free on 24 mth contract with talk mobile @ £30p/m for 750 mins, 1500 texts and 1gb of internet per month - also 9 months at half price via redemption over the 1st 18mths (cashback) which takes the cost down to £24.38 and if ordered via quidco, a further £46 tracked making the phone £539.12 over the full term or £22.47 per month.....
As the phone is currently selling on ebay for about £400 this could be a 24mth contract for someone at a cost of £140 or less than £12 per month... not bad for this amount of minutes and internet.... maybe I should just fleebay it before he gets home.. he hee ;)

if you are willing to pay then just search snes, psx etc on the market place. Also RomBuddy is a good app for finding roms
If you want to do it for free, then root the phone, install applanet and get them all there 8)
#29
Download tiger Mame. Then search developers page where they have emulators for pretty much every other console bar psx. Fpse is the best psx emulator but will cost you £3.15.
#30
The roms are free on the internet. Just need snesoid or something to play them.
#31
I downloaded 5 games in this offer...4 of them work, but modern combat 2 doesnt even start and force closes everytime i try. I have restarted and cleared cache on my phone too...still no luck. Any suggestions to sort this?
#32
