What happens if you lose the remote and the alarm is set ??

I had a similar Yale alarm, and was forever losing the remote, but you could turn off/activate it at the control box. I don't see a control box listed, but surely the must be a central unit that controls it all, where you can add new unit pieces and control stuff etc.
#3
Not always as the control circuit could be in the bell box, If so you can buy a remote keypad

This alarm does NOT come with a separate control box

Buy a spare remote and leave it with a neighbour. If the remote is attached to your car keys, I guess you aint getting home if you lose it oO
#5
I don't see how you can add any more contacts or PIR's as stated because you need to enter the menu system on the control box to do this (we have this system)

If you have this system perhaps you can answer the question. Is there a control box? Seems weird if there is no way of setting it up :|

You can use the remote to put the alarm into "learn" mode. You'll have done this already when you set up the alarm originally and you'll be able to add PIR sensors, door opening sensors, a control number pad panel to replace the remote if you want to as well as smoke alarms.

These are very easy to install systems and very versatile. I'd totally recommend it and even though Yale has brought out new systems you can still get all the components on ebay and all the new components are compatible with the old systems as well.

Great price BTW :D

Have the model up from this with the control pad that calls you up and lets you talk to the burglars (not sure what you would say "now stop that you naughty boy"). Anyway, good alarm systems, amazingly easy to fit and mine has been fault free for several years (more than I can say for most of my neighbours alarms.

voted cold from me simply because the item is from argos ebay and they are notoriously bad, does not state refurbished however most of the ebay stuff is, wouldnt surprise me if when you got it it was in some way faulty or damaged or missing parts. just reading the negative feedbacks should tell you all you need to know!!

Just bought this off ebay.
Saw a spare remote control on the screwfix website for 24.99 not sure if this is a good price, thats the problem with these things they seem to think people live alone!!!

Do you have any proof to back up your comments or is it just hot air?

I guess you are just having one of those days eh.

I installed a similar system (the top spec one with control panel that rings you when the alarm is activated).

The siren in both the internal control panel and external alarm box have stopped working after 18 months, one of the motion sensors activates itself around once a month for no known reason and the remote keyfobs only work from around 5m away now - despite replacing the battery, although they used to work from outside the property!

We still activate it and use it as a silent alarm (which rings me and the misses), but I wouldnt get one again - pay the extra and get a wired alarm fitted.

Couldn't disagree more... Bought a hannah montana MP3 player kit a few weeks back, when it arrived the couriers had smashed the box so it was damaged, I returned and they refunded same day and even gave me £4 to cover my return postage costs... I have also bought an item that was refurbished that had a missing manual so I emailed them and they sent one out same-day

We've had the same for the last 4 years or so and its worked very well. Had to replace one of the sensors last year - its a good alarm and the flexibility of having the control unit helps....

If the PIR is pointed in the direction of the dog then yep these will be set off, they do dearer ones that aren't set off by pets that you can add to the system.

Sold out anyway

The listing has ended, shame, looked like a bargain too! :(

I've had this system for a couple of years it's really easy to fit and better than no alarm, Plus if you don't have the keyfob then the only way to turn off the siren is by climbing up and removing the front of the box so it's best to buy a spare keyfob, when I got mine it was a smaller pack with one of everything so I joined two systems together and got two fobs and also two siren boxes so no fakes on my house if it rings it rings back and front :). I'm guessing if this is the same as mine you could join two together on this if you wanted 4 detectors and two siren boxes.
#27
I've had one of these for 7 years (with control box) and they're pretty reliable and easy to install.
On the subject of whether they 'advertise' that you've got something worth protecting, when I moved house I didn't install the siren box outside. The control keypad has it's own VERY loud built in siren so if I was unfortunate enough to have a break-in the burglars wouldn't know if the keypad was phoning out and probably wouldn't hang around too long to carry out a proper search of the place with all the racket from the keypad possibly alerting a neighbour. But then again, I'm not a burglar.
Any burglars here to point us in the right direction?

My advice is that nobody should accuse anyone of being an idiot when they type in capital letters and have a very minimal grasp of punctuation or grammar. It makes them look like..... an idiot.

Strangely enough this was one of the things that worried me but when looking on the internet the general consensus from security advisors was that you shouldn't be the first or last in your street to have one fitted. If you're the only one not to have one fitted which house will be easiest to rob? And if you were first to have one fitted which house is probably most worth robbing.....

End of the day its a deterrent to deter druggies who want an easy house to rob....
