Decent guitar for a beginner. I have used Yamahas for years (12 string) and found them pretty much perfect. There are cheaper guitars on the market, and though you might move on to a better and more expensive guitar in the future, this one will be remain functional, while the cheaper ones will be in a landfill site.

Yamaha's are very, very nice guitars, and always good value for money. I just ordered myself one of these, which is definitely worth looking at for those willing to spend a bit more.

yamaha are good for beginners, half decent quality and cheaply priced.

wellsie, i would suggest looking for a bargain Epiphone as after a few months you will regret buying anything cheaper.

I had a cheap Fender acoustic years a go and it was really tinny sounding - really you were paying for the name. Yamaha's are much better value - I now have a Yamaha electro-acoustic and it is great.

Lots of guitars reviewed here:

No its not a classical.

Voted hot, its a very good guitar for beginners! I played on that one for about 7 months to get me started, so would warmly recommend it :)

These are great guitars for a beginner. Good solid build, very good action, the tone isn't fantastic but you are paying peanuts.

It's a "strumming guitar" as seen in the charts, not a classical guitar.

If anyone's thinking of learning guitar, then a nice, steel-string acoustic like this is a good way to start. Learn your chords, build up your finger strength and get some simple songs under your belt.

Sound advice :)

Better to start on an acoustic versus a classical - some even say it is better to start with an electric tho.

These guitars last time I checked were £90ish - so a decent saving and reputable brand.

I'm a total beginner - started when my wife bought me this guitar at Christmas (from ebay) - and I think it's great. It's a full size dreadnought style guitar but has a lovely sound and friends who can play have told me it's a decent guitar with a good "action". Thoroughly recommended and at this price a total steal.
#24
I think this has been mentioned before, but if you apply for the amazon credit card you get £15 off your first purchase which would make it an even better buy!
#25
Just to add, the next cheapest I can find this is £75 plus delivery. Also, it is solid top, which many are not at this kind of price. Guitars hardly seem to have gone up over the last 20 years - I paid £50 for a Fender acoustic 20 years ago and it was pretty poor. I am sure this will be a better guitar for the money. Go on, you know you want one.:-D

At that price point, probably your best bet is either an Ibanez ARC100 or Vintage V100. Vintage used to be total rubbish but with Trevor Wilkinson now looking after the design specification, they are well worth looking at.

However, if you can stretch to £300, then you could get an Epiphone as suggested already but I would personally recommend one of the PRS SE range. There's a few Les Paul -a-likes (Standard/Tremonti/Santana etc) which are very good but also check out the P90 equipped Soapbar. According to several magazines, this is the best guitar on the market under £500. One of the guitarists in my band has one and it's a superb guitar. Rated 9.6/10 on Harmony-Central.

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Paul+Reed+Smith+Guitars/SE+Soapbar/10/1

One other thing. Avoid the Epiphones/Vintage/Stagg etc Les Pauls/SGs/Specials priced under £150. They are not total rubbish but you can get so much more for not a lot more dosh.

As for the Yami, nice guitar. Plays well and sounds good for very little money and at this price, a steal. I have had Dawsons price match other guitars in the past but you had to have it mailed to you at extra cost. You could not pick it up in store.

Good deal.Voted hot.

i placed my order for this, then realised (i know i know) that there wasnt a electric tuner included (as in the pic)

so i cancelled the order, and bought the pro pack for £84.99 to get the stand, electric tuner, carry bag etc for that little bit extra.
