Pretty grotty as it's not touch-sensitive, meaning you get the same volume of note however hard you hit the keys.

We'll,if the dynamics is important to you, maybe lidl shouldn't be a first choice shop whilst buying the new instrument ? Yes,that's a toy but 70 quid won't buy a better one.at this price this can't be cons.

Of course - but they keep quiet about its main drawback, so it needs to be pointed out.

OK so not this one - but can anyone recommend another for a kid to start learning piano on - dont mind 2nd hand so a make and model would be appreciated

If you want your child to learn real piano rather than keyboard, they really need to learn either on a real piano or a weighted (rather than sprung) keyboard, which are not cheap. But at least one with touch sensitivity will allow them to play loud and soft, so just search for anything with that feature.

Can you suggest something better for £70?
  17. pibpob's avatar
Yes - a second hand piano.

I didn't say it wasn't good value for money. If you want something that's not grotty, you have to pay more than £70.

That's because they're only available from 15th November. Like all Lidl non-food specials, they are temporarily and released on particular dates. Take a look at the home page, and also "starts" on the opening posting.

I'd suggest buying this and a cheap scissor stand. Just make sure that the stand doesn't have to be set too high in order to be narrow enough to go underneath this less-than-full-size keyboard.

Managed to get keyboard and stand - guess its fair bit of kit for the price - was I expecting too much for a record function - assume I need some MIDI out or output to some recording device??
