If the Yamaha RXV667 is a tasty cake then the RXV767 is the icing!
Adding to the RXV667's already impressive spec, the RXV767 has those "missing" features that many home cinema fans can't live without. The first of these is the adoption of twin HDMI outputs. These work simultaneously and are ideal for those with either a screen in another room or both projector and panel TV in the same room.
When it comes to power, the RXV767 also shows an improvement. Although only a small amount more, the extra power is clear, especially when it comes to movies with explosive action - the RXV767 can go deeper and stay there for longer. The scale of sound is therefore more expansive. To ensure you don't miss out on what anyone is saying, the RXV767 also comes with Dialogue Lift. As the name suggests, this "pulls" the dialogue forward to make sense of speech over a busy soundtrack.
As with the RXV667, the RXV767 features full 1080p video upscaling to HDMI. This means that any source you connect into the receiver can be outputted via HDMI. Not only does this improve the picture quality, especially with upscaling to 1080p, but it also means just one HDMI connection between TV and receiver. With the added benefit of an Audio Return Channel, it's possible to link your TV via just a single HDMI socket and both see the picture from sources and listen to the TV's sound through the receiver. The HDMI sockets are also compatible with the latest 3D formats, letting you use a 3D compatible Blu-ray player via the receiver. In terms of the numbers, the RXV767 has five HDMI sockets at the back combined with a sixth socket at the front - perfect for occasionally connected items such as an HD camcorder. The RXV767 has all the other bases covered too, including two component video inputs and twin coaxial and optical digital inputs. An added advantage with the RXV767 is that both HDMI and component sockets are assignable. This makes it far easier to use the receiver as the sources are where you want and expect them to be on the remote and not elsewhere! Speaking of remotes, the RXV767 comes with a learning model. This means that whatever brand of other remotes you have, the RXV767 will learn their functions - ideal for cutting down on clutter.
If you have an iPod or MP3 player, you'll appreciate the front panel-mounted mini jack, too. When this is combined with the compressed music enhancer you have a home system that will make the most of your iPod or MP3's music content. The Yamaha RXV767 is also equipped with a special socket that allows for the connection of optional YDS-12 or YDS-11 iPod docks. Once connected, you can control and display your iPod information via the Yamaha's remote control. Finally, there's also full compatibility with the optional Yamaha Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver (YBA-10) for seamless device integration.
As this is a Yamaha you'd expect plenty of DSP (Digital Signal Processor) modes, and the RXV767 doesn't disappoint; a choice of 17 DSP settings, including Cinema DSP 3D mode, provide a wide choice of audio effects. Furthermore, Silent Cinema provides enhanced headphone listening whilst night time listening can also be enhanced without disturbing the neighbours.
As with the RXV667, the 767 has the ability to run a powered second zone. Wire up speakers in another room and you can enjoy music in one room whilst watching a movie in another. Setting up and using the Yamaha RXV767 is easy thanks to YPAO and SCENE. YPAO is an Automatic System Calibration that uses sophisticated equalisation to set the best sound for your room where ever your speakers are placed. SCENE allows one-button access to the perfect settings for various sources with different requirements, such as Blu-ray viewing or music listening.
For an AV receiver that gives you more, the RX-V767 answers every need.
