If the Yamaha RXV667 is a tasty cake then the RXV767 is the icing!

Adding to the RXV667's already impressive spec, the RXV767 has those "missing" features that many home cinema fans can't live without. The first of these is the adoption of twin HDMI outputs. These work simultaneously and are ideal for those with either a screen in another room or both projector and panel TV in the same room.

When it comes to power, the RXV767 also shows an improvement. Although only a small amount more, the extra power is clear, especially when it comes to movies with explosive action - the RXV767 can go deeper and stay there for longer. The scale of sound is therefore more expansive. To ensure you don't miss out on what anyone is saying, the RXV767 also comes with Dialogue Lift. As the name suggests, this "pulls" the dialogue forward to make sense of speech over a busy soundtrack.

As with the RXV667, the RXV767 features full 1080p video upscaling to HDMI. This means that any source you connect into the receiver can be outputted via HDMI. Not only does this improve the picture quality, especially with upscaling to 1080p, but it also means just one HDMI connection between TV and receiver. With the added benefit of an Audio Return Channel, it's possible to link your TV via just a single HDMI socket and both see the picture from sources and listen to the TV's sound through the receiver. The HDMI sockets are also compatible with the latest 3D formats, letting you use a 3D compatible Blu-ray player via the receiver. In terms of the numbers, the RXV767 has five HDMI sockets at the back combined with a sixth socket at the front - perfect for occasionally connected items such as an HD camcorder. The RXV767 has all the other bases covered too, including two component video inputs and twin coaxial and optical digital inputs. An added advantage with the RXV767 is that both HDMI and component sockets are assignable. This makes it far easier to use the receiver as the sources are where you want and expect them to be on the remote and not elsewhere! Speaking of remotes, the RXV767 comes with a learning model. This means that whatever brand of other remotes you have, the RXV767 will learn their functions - ideal for cutting down on clutter.

If you have an iPod or MP3 player, you'll appreciate the front panel-mounted mini jack, too. When this is combined with the compressed music enhancer you have a home system that will make the most of your iPod or MP3's music content. The Yamaha RXV767 is also equipped with a special socket that allows for the connection of optional YDS-12 or YDS-11 iPod docks. Once connected, you can control and display your iPod information via the Yamaha's remote control. Finally, there's also full compatibility with the optional Yamaha Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver (YBA-10) for seamless device integration.

As this is a Yamaha you'd expect plenty of DSP (Digital Signal Processor) modes, and the RXV767 doesn't disappoint; a choice of 17 DSP settings, including Cinema DSP 3D mode, provide a wide choice of audio effects. Furthermore, Silent Cinema provides enhanced headphone listening whilst night time listening can also be enhanced without disturbing the neighbours.

As with the RXV667, the 767 has the ability to run a powered second zone. Wire up speakers in another room and you can enjoy music in one room whilst watching a movie in another. Setting up and using the Yamaha RXV767 is easy thanks to YPAO and SCENE. YPAO is an Automatic System Calibration that uses sophisticated equalisation to set the best sound for your room where ever your speakers are placed. SCENE allows one-button access to the perfect settings for various sources with different requirements, such as Blu-ray viewing or music listening.

For an AV receiver that gives you more, the RX-V767 answers every need.

7x 140 watts!!!! oooh yeah!

You are getting a lot of receiver there for your money *if* you can get one at all, or for that matter if you can get one that is not ex-repair or ex-demonstration without the remote/with scratches etc etc.

True i only had a quick look, however £79 more for a brand new unit aint bad for this particular receiver if your local richer sounds doesnt have the clearance model.

Good find for those you can find one in mint condition.

I am not in the market for one personally, just hope those that do manage to grab them find they are in good condition!...I fell lucky in a Currys/PC World Clearance store a few months ago and bagged a Marantz SR5004 Receiver for £125 brand new sealed box.....RRP £599!

What does 3d ready mean on a home cinema amp?

What does 3d ready mean on a home cinema amp?

It can handle 3D signals from 3D sources.
#13
I bought the RXV667 which was shown here a few weeks back for £250. I have to say the Yamaha amp is brilliant.

I have a 5.1 set up and i have bi-amped my front floor standers. Sound is amazing both cinematic and music.

If you notice at the back of the amp the speaker wire posts look like they don't accept banana plugs. In fact you can just pull out the bung in the post with a small screw driver and connect banana plugs and avoid a mess of wires.

Cheers

Wow! That was a deal and a half. Wish I'd spotted that one.

It means it can handle both the 3D Video processing along with the audio processing over HDMI, previous receivers cannot as they are HDMI 1.3 not 1.4 compliant.

However if you have an older receiver, I know there are certain Blu Ray Players out there from the likes of Panasonic that have two HDMI outputs, one for audio and one for video straight to your TV.

These use to sell for £600 at one point!!! HOT HOT HOT!
#17
I bought this amp earlier this week for £349 from quantum electronics and it's stunning, worth every penny and more at £299 if you can get one. My local richer sounds was outta stock so mail order saved me the hassle. Hot hot hot!

Steaming.

Got the 667 from bestbuy earlier this week for £242 should go to £222 if cashback tracks, if anyone is umming and arring about buying this it's a no brainer, if you have a 767 available anywhere near you don't hesistate in buying you have a major deal, you should have seen the price of the 767 only around 3 months ago.

I don't need the twin outputs but if anyone is looking at outputting to a TV and projector in the near future (great for the footy) this is the one for you.

Prestwich? I tried there but someone beat me at 10.01am lol.

Managed to reserve one in Liverpool, they had 4 in stock, don't know how many now.
#24
None available in Leeds, but the guy said York have some. York isn't listed on the website as having stock so I thought I'd mention it here. I've decided to give it a miss, although I think this is definitely the amp I'm going to upgrade to. I'll just have to watch out for any other clearance deals or maybe go second hand.
