Sounds like a good price to me! Although I'll stick with my five year old DAB as it still does the job.

*edit: Ohh it's Empire-direct! I will never buy anything off them, don't trust them...

Thanks whatif, and hotukdeals for bringing this bargain to my attention.

I ordered one of these just over a week ago and collected it two days later from my local ED Warehouse.

I'm very pleased with it and am enjoying the great sound quality.

Highly recommended.

I love ED - ordered a Zanussi washing machine off them way back when (300 notes) and it was delivered. They then delivered me another one about a week or so later! Was the same delivery drivers and everything! Naturally I flogged the second machine instead of pointing out their mistake hehe! :whistling:

Thanks mate.I can see what stations I get there but was wondering if there's any way I can get Radio Scotland.I can pick it up on 810MW.Maybe it doesn't transmit to NI on DAB.

I dont get it. I thought DAB transmitted in something sounding equivalent to 128/192 kbps MP3. What difference would a high-end tuner make to such dreadful bitrates?

No, just a DAB receiver. You will need and amp of some sort to get sound outta ya schpeakers...

To be fair, you would fork out the best part of a hundred notes for a decent FM tuner, anyway, and yamaha is one of the better budget brands. Think of the DAB component as a freebie.

Silver, though.....so seventies.:|

Horses for courses I guess - I actually prefer the retro look... Black is so, I dunno, 80s! ;-)

£399 ??!!!!

madness. the RRP is seriously inflated on this, if a good sony dab tuner costs rrp £ 149 , then no way on earth is a yamaha one gonna cost £ 400.

dab is compressed audio, its fruitless trying to polish a [email protected] , but in this case, yamaha are playing silly beggars , and conning people into thinking this is a bona fida £ 400 hi fi component.

open it up and youll see its just like your run of the mill £ 100 - £ 150 tuner
