Yamaha YHT294 5.1 AV Receiver 3D Ready - £184.99 with Voucher Code @ BestBuy for £184.99

jhonny20041433jhonny20041433

This deal was posted a couple of months back, but it's definitely not expired.
The Voucher Code is:
CINEMA75A (Bringing it down to £184.99)
+ Topcashback 8.08% or Quidco 8% (to possibly bring it down further to £170.04 or £170.19 respectively)

This is an excellent entry level AV receiver and speaker system. Yes it can't decode HD audio itself, however if you are planning to use it with a PS3 or a Blu-Ray player (that can output audio as LPCM, almost all of them do) then you will still be hearing loss-less HD audio. That's why I believe this to be an excellent deal, if you are planning to be using it with a Blu-Ray player or a PS3. I really can't find anything else to match this for the price.

-------------------------At the core of the Yamaha YHT-294 package, a powerful Yamaha RXV367 AV receiver offers a massive 600 watts of power and HDMI 1.4, making it compatible with the latest generation of 3D television sets.

The RXV367 AV receiver offers a range of useful features, including lip sync to ensure that dialogue matches perfectly with the lip movements of actors onscreen, while compressed music enhancer improves sound from highly compressed digital files, to offer a much more satisfying sound.

Meanwhile, Scene function selects exactly the right Digital Signal Processor (DSP) setting for whatever you’re watching, whether that be a classical concert or a war film, and the Yamaha will also set the system up to suit your room’s acoustics.

To complete the Yamaha YHT-294 package, a set of Yamaha speakers offer the perfect counterpoint to the receiver. Five discreet compact satellite speakers offer realistic and subtle sound, while an active subwoofer uses Yamaha’s own YST technology to create powerful and satisfying bass frequencies. The compact subwoofer manages to achieve the performance of a much bigger unit by using Active Servo Technology to push more air through the bass port
--------------------

If you want to look at some reviews, do a Google search on
Yamaha RXV367 (for the receiver) and YAMAHA NSP285 (for the speaker package), as that is basically what this package is made up off.

In light of the recent Onkyo deals posted here over the last couple of weeks, can any audiophile on here confirm whether or not this is still the best bang for buck AV system currently available?
    Thanks.

I can say this is a great system, I have one for my sons room and it is sounds superb. Plenty of hdmi ports, easy to set up. When you consider the cost is just over £170 after quidco you can see it is a 'cheap' system but it honestly performs way way above this price in my opinion. I also have an Onkyo and 2 Pioneer systems at hoem that cost considerably more and although not quite so good pound for piund this is the best by far.

Good luck.....by the way the original post is only expired due to jealous plebs on here expiring it as it still runs but definatelyt worth a new post anyway as more will now see it and a great deal it is.

    Hearin you up buddy....

Does this BITSTREAM HD audio ? from yamaha site i dont think it does, so I would have to set my PS3 to PCM ? Is that right ?

That's a scorching deal considering it includes the speakers too. Hawt!

Would this system support HDMI sound as well as vision? I have an Xbox, PS3 and Sky+ HD I want to plug into the HDMI and I'm currently using optical and HDMI going through 2 different boxes, one for audio and one for video. This system may totally change my life ;-)

    Any info appreciated. Cheers.

I'd like to know if it does sound over HDMI too for my Xbox.

Also, can anyone confirm that if you stick say, a Wii into the component, can you have it output of HDMI (so you only need one thing connected to the telly...)

Also, assume it comes with a remote? Can't find any mention...

I got this about a month ago, i think this amp is great- much prefer it to my old pioneer one, easier menus to use... never used the speakers though as i bought 4 roth oli3 and a whardale centre for it, sounds amazing.

My son only uses HDMI for his an dyes it is definately 3D compatible.

Also come swith a remote control unit, it is pretty much a 1 box system and for this money you cannot go wroing with it. There are bound to be some things it will nto do for the more advanced audiophile but for bluray player, xbox, hd projector we have it set up with it is excellent.

i've got the xbox connected via HDMI and sounds comes out in 5.1, the wii componant can go into it but you need to connect it via componant to the tv aswell, don't think it converts- could be wrong though. and yes it comes with remote

Yep it will, bought this with a new 3D tv and must say it is superb! 3D runs throught it flawlessly.
Even the guy in the shop said for the price you wouldn't get better, the sound quality is better than the onkyo which is double the price, and it has an active subwoofer!

I bought it as I needed a new av system and the missus woudl let me spend too much, was a bit down about it not doing HD audio, but I set the blu-ray to HD audio and it just fired it straight through, didn't come out HD obviously but didn't quibble about downsampling to DTS.

All my kit is running through it and after setting it up with the supplied microphone it sounds amazing.

    Just ordered this, fingers crossed.

I was looking at getting the Onkyo TX-SR608 and Boston Acoustics Soundware Xs 5.1 but that would have come to about £570, which although would sound better than this is a big outlay.

At this price if it turns out that I want to upgrade, after flogging it shouldn't be much out of pocket, by which time the mentioned gear above should have come down in price a few bob.

Now I just need to figure out how I can output the surround sound from my PC. My sound card (Creative Xfi Extreme Audio) does not have optical out and my graphics card is DVI so cannot carry audio. Bit stumped :(

Can anyone recommend a cheap but good 3d blu-ray player that can be multi-region hacked to go with this then? Was going to get a combi unit, but this seems too good value to pass up!
