Look very very bulky!

i have a Joytech control center, is there any way to get the RCA on this to connect to an optical out is there? Or to get the control center to connect to this as I have no clue about RCA connections on surround sound stuff. I fancy a new surround setup! This looks very good

the speakers do have optical connection to the sub which is the hub to the others

I also have a set that I bought from somewhere else. For £30 they were a bargain, but for £26 they're a steal. I've been very impressed with my set up. They're a good set of cheap and cheerful speakers, and they're not at all bulky as a previous comment said they looked. I've not seen other set for under £50 with a proper IR remote.

its a good system.. my only problem is that the volume is not more controllable. the lowest setting is much lowder than i would lke for late night halo :P
#7
Bro just order a set. Thanks to the OP. Rep and Heat.

Can someone confirm, do they have optical in? I want 5.1 for my xbox 360 - it needs something with an optical in.

Just read the reviews on ebuyer - one of the reviewers syas there is no digital input. It hasn't got a decoder built in - only the phono inputs for 5.1. No good for my XBox, but still a good deal!

#10
I was wondering about the optical input too, as I was planning on using it connected to a Sony freeview box in my kitchen which only has an optical out.

I bought this a few months ago, really good. more powerful than you'd expect for the price.

With the £10 google refund now they're an absolute steal.... :)

How long are the leads in meters?. Thanks:-D
#12
i have these speakers they are great, the only disappointment is the lack of a head phone socket, which would be handy. all the 2.1 speakers i have used in the past have one. still thats my only gripe, the rest of it is great.
#13
Do you have to add something to the cart to knock it over £30?
#14
Yeah you would need to add something as delivery is not included in the price.
#15
#16
Scuse my lack of knowledge but could this set up be used for a dvd player ?
#17
Does it make any sense to buy a 5.1 audio system, when my audio card on the laptop does not support it (I have just one jack, stereo)?
I really want to buy them, but I'm not sure if all of the speakers will work?

I haven't measured them, but they're fairly short. About 6', so roughly 2 meters. I bought a set of extension cables of ebay for £1 and £3 delivery tho... granted it adds to the price, but it's still a bargain.

I also think the back speakers have longer cables than the front ones. The fronts might be only 1 meter in length.

hi will these speakers work with MP3 players and is there leads supplied for this as well does anyone know, have a creative vision:m 30gb ordered the equivalent docking station recently and it didnt work but mate said i should get speakers for a cheaper alternative and these seem to be a good deal?
#20
Great Deal for 5.1 system with a remote and as good looking as these.
I wish i hadn't just bought some now :(
Voted Hot!!!!!

My current 5.1 speakers can be used by mp3's and non 5.1 sounds systems as it can take a single stereo input and pipe it through all 5 speakers. Not sure if these do.

EvilTwin: 5.1 speakers were originally set up for cinema surround for DVD's so should be excellent for films. Does your dvd have a compatible 5.1 output?

Ronhaze: I take your playing on your Xbox. PC users can use the volume control in windows to adjust it lower.

At the riskof appearing thick... Will I get 5.1 from an optical out on the back of my DVD player? Player has no 5.1 output sockets.

Good price though so fingers crossed!

Warmed up a bit as well.

Based on the reviews it has no optical input, so this would not work with your DVD player.

If you DVD player has an optical out then you need a system with an optical input which can decode the 5.1 signal. Last time I looked you could not get these for any less than £100.

Nearly got excited and bought, but need the optical xbox 360!, but otherwise great deal, added some warmth!!

Thanks for the input (for want of a better phrase) Dave.

Another deal for the back burner then. I'll have to save my pennies and get a proper DVD!

This seems like an awasome deal, just got a few queries. Can this be plugged into ipods or tv audio to have surround sound? And will it be as affective as a pc with a 5.1 audio card...???
#28
Just got mine but haven't got a clue how to connect to my TV.
I've got the three din outputs on my TV, yellow white and red, but have all these on the back of the speaker (woofer)

I assume I must need some sort of adapter.
Anyone help me???!!
#29

#30

yes you can connect them into an ipod. but an ipod can only do 2.1 as far as i know. so you will not get the benifit of 5.1 speakers. but that is an ipod issue
#33
ryt thanks also are you able to have multiple connections persay one for tv ,dvd and games and another a free connection for ipod or hifi ? thank you
#34
I need some extending cables for the rear speakers.Does anyone know the technical term for these 'cos I cannot find them.Looks like rca plug,so I need a male one end female other end but just a single plug not twin.Thankyou,D.
#35
TECHNOPHOBE ALERT!

I've just bought these and wondered what is the best way to set them up. I've got a decent TV with a DVD recorder into onto scart and a freeview box into the other.

Do I just plug these speakers straight into the back of the TV and if so how?

I seem to have 2 front, 2 rear speaker connections. How many do I need for these and where do I shove the other ones ( no rude answers please!)

Thanks and apologies for sounding thick!!!!!

i got mine for £25 with google check out
The sound is awesome even for the price only thing is
a) you may need extra cable for rear speakes using male and female phonos
b) if you are connecting it with a console persay a PS2 you may need to buy an AV conector to split up the sound
well thats 2 things but hey
