remember i bought my 20 kilo set and had to carry it home a couple of miles, was a while before i was fit to try em out :)

case is a nice touch too on either set.
but if want to buy more weights might not get such a bargain with chromed as standard black ones.

hot tho i guess

LOL, i did the same thing back when i was about 17. Didn't think it would be a big deal to carry 20kg of weights from the bus to my house which is a 15 minute walk anyway. Most painful journey ever. Couldn't feel my arms by the time i made it home :p Tried everything, even carrying it on my shoulder. People must have thought i was crazy to be struggling so much with such a tiny box, not realising what's in it.

nice but looking for something a bit heavier, would not consider myself very strong but use 14's down the gym atm

how many reps do you do at 14?

i have the 20kg ones and there superb, they were also sent via a special courier (not royal mail)

ooo nice one, i need some extra weights on mine (same as 20kg ones but without the case), £23 for 4x5kg disks at argos or get a another shinier set and a case for £25?
hard choice, quite fancy the case as my set get dusty in a week but the disks are lower weight and can fit at most one more disk on but i do like shiny.

I do about 12-15 bicep curls, stuff like lateral raises I would strugle with the 14's. I would like to get a set I could work up with but there all so expensive, feel like a idiot in the mirror at the gym

I bought that exact set 8 years ago (that makes me sound old now lol), with a bar as well, and I'm still going strong 8 years down the line :)

I think it's a great thing to get into (men & women). Start weight training when your 18 so your body has had enough time to have grown. Weight training any younger could inhibit growth. You'll soon be using 25kg dumbells on each arm !!!

go for the 4x5kg ones as makes them way more versatile.
Can easily set up pretty much everything to 20kg on each very simply as well as a single bar weight of 26kg.
if you just get another set of the small weights you dont have enough room on the bar to add much more weight so you will have stuff lying about unused at all times.

Also if you are mixing up colors it would look bad!

surprised this didn't get to the front page :-(

I've got the 20kg ones but don't like them, they come loose all the time. The weight is sufficient for home use though, usually use 16's to 20's at the gym and find these fine weight wise for home.

Lifting serious weight whilst squatting, or some of the pressing movements (especially overhead) may have some impact on growth for teens and adolescents, but doing some exercise with (what is in fairness) reasonably light dumbbells, IMO isn't likely to stunt anyones' growth.
