These seem quite good value. Not as easy to compare prices as DVDs etc, but the nearest comparison I could find was Amazon which was selling a similar set (possibly the same set) for 29.35:

Order or reserve through Quidco for additional savings.

Any old iron!!!

Carrying them home!!!

I made that mistake once!

i bought these a few years back for £20ish, real good quality. The funny thing though was watching the poor argos girl trying to carry it from the rack behind the counter over to the till, properly broke into a sweat!! (then more fun trying to carry it to the car lol)
#6
It's only 20kg's! Moan moan moan moan! :whistling:

Good price, decent quality, have some heat :gift:
#7
20kg isnt much, when split over 2 dumbells, but 20kg in a rectangular box with no handles is killer. I made that mistake too:-D

I have the full barbell and dumbbell set from Argos. It was the 50KG set and bought it many years ago when I was still in high school for £50! Must be at least 8 years on now. Great quality

I later bought the extra 2x10KG weights at Argos so I wasn't changing all the weights between the dumbbells and barbell all the time and I'd recommend getting a pair of gloves or the grips start making the skin on your hands go hard!

Ivee been waiting for the similar aldi set to come back in stock, but havent seen them. Had my eye on these from the 'laminated book of dreams' but this is an excellent price. (ps -qudos to whoever gets that reference...!)

YehI bought Gold's 20's a few months back and that site of 50 + yr old woman tryin to lift them was funny.

#13

Voted HOT

Bought these a few years ago and they are really good.
#16
Hah, last time I bought a set like these (not York unfortunately, just ****** unbranded Argos ones) I almost made the car mistake... parked around 20 minutes away from the store, oh man, won't be doing that again :P
#17
Will be getting myself 2 of these sets....just starting to need more weight for my bench presses! H&R added
#18
Great kit; great price. Many thanks to OP.
#19
Ordered..heat added.

Time to build up some muscles!
#20
great set got them myself just to lazy lol
#21
Are these on sale if you buy in store, or have you got to reserve and collect to get the sale price?
#22
Don't buy these if you want the extra weights, just get the 4 x 5kg plates for £20 or so.

Might be prudent to get these if you want to build the weights up gradually though. Increasing a dumbbell up by 10kg in one go might burst a few blood vessels:)

You're prob right if you're using a bar though!

there isn't 20k in weights here and they are in small sizes so you are better of buying the plates
still a good price though

same :S

Agree with the post about not buying these to use to add to bars if you already have a couple of smaller plates - these will fill up your bar fast and you'll need to buy plates yet again.

ordered for store pick-up but if your spending over £50 and getting it delivered then add AFD10 for free delivery.
And XMASDISCOUNT for £5 off or £10 off £100 only available till midnight on the 21st though,
Hope this helps someone.

Not bought any weight training stuff for a long time, but these do seem like great value. Heat added.

My mate bought these a while back and says they are still in good use...
i believe it was bill bailey with that quote :)

Picked some up earlier

the box is quite small and difficult to carry when you also have just bought a toaster/kettle set and another stocking filler for your daughter (which you can't exactly ask ger to carry!)

just need to get them out the boot of the car now :)
#31
just what i've been looking for
#32
Great many thanks, just picked a set up for my son. Had them taken to the back door where my car was.
#33
From the 'Laminated book of dreams' ....good price, will last forever. Make great door stops when you don't (if you ever do) use them.

Hot.
#34
I have these, fantastic price.

The bars are pretty rough though, so I highly recommend buying a pair of lifting gloves for them at the same time if you're giving them away as a present, or you don't already have a pair.
#35
reserved , picked up from store and back in 20 mins.. goodstuff!

#36
Thanks, reserved one, I'll ask my wife to pick that up tomorrow, when she is back from church :-D

Good deal and heat added but am interested in Kettlebells now. To go totally off topic - anyone used them and seen any good deals at the moment? Anyone got some and decided they now want to sell?
