Large means small in Youngs case

125g fillet is small

It's the Basa fish they have started using you need to worry about,it tastes awful.
#3
Why not call Basa fish by it's proper name i.e. Catfish ?

I'm not an expert on it,i just know when i complained about the taste i was told by Young's that it's the Basa fish, that's what they called it themselves,so i was just repeating it.

Sorry deb8z, I had no idea what "Basa fish" was so when I saw your post - I Googled it and found the reference to Youngs and Catfish from the Mekong Delta

It really does taste horrible tried it for tea today.

Youngs described the taste as earthy when they use Basa fish,to me it tasted musty!!
#9
**** sustainability, they need to get some threatened tasty fish in fillets!
#10
They are definatly not large but small, and they don't taste nice at all.i stick to birds eye.
#11
Young's were always my favourite and i've tried loads,i dont think all the varities contain Basa fish,so i'll just avoid that one in future.

Freshwater Vietnamese Cobbler isn't it?
#13
There is so little fish in them does it matter what it is?
#14

very true - 40% of the weight is the coating / added water so there is only about 50p worth of actual fish in ALL 4 fillets

just buy a fillet and cut in half and coat it yourself :)

It does if they taste rank.

I had two for my tea and never noticed the taste.

Saying that my taste buds must be shot, after eating all of the superhot chillies I grow!

good price and I was expecting it to taste horrible but it was OK.. fairly tasteless white fish, not hugely dissimilar to cod.

however, the amount of fish was small. these were not "large" fillets by any stretch of the imagination unless you count the about 50% batter.
