The "3" in the title really threw me, I had to read it a few times ;-)

Good deal, well done OP

Good find. I bought 2 packs for £2 each today - they were even on offer at £2 a pack at Tesco's :(

these are probably the closest store-bought frozen fish you can get to that of a half decent chippy. The cod is good quality and the batter is very nice and crispy. HOT... just gutted I bought a pack yesterday for 1.99 at Sainsburys.

I doubt it's Cod, it's more than likely to be Alaskan Pollock - which is less rare.

Exactly! People think they are eating cod when they're not. Excellent marketing!

I believe its a load of Pollock too.

100% fish fillet,Covers a very wide area that statement."Bags of mystery" could be an alternative ! Not for me.....Il pass this one up !!
#7
It doesn't actually say cod on the packet just fish filliets
#8
On the back it does indeed say Alaska Pollock 51%, it's a good price as a deal would never buy otherwise. What is a good Cod fillet? the Birds eye ones I take it but rather dear for my liking

In all honesty, you are better off not purchasing Cod at the moment - it's been overfished for a long time, either go for the cheap Alaska Pollock or the far more expensive Haddock, which has more flavour than both Pollock and Cod.

Okay thanks, isn't haddock cod as well though? either way il stick with the cheaper pollock tastes good enough to me.

No!

I'm more bothered about the percentage of fish content than what type of fish, 51% is on the low side, around 65% usual!
#13
I'm shocked here, and nobody else is :)

What is the other 49% then?
#14
to be honest, I find that cod and pollock taste pretty much the same... but that was an oversight on my part.
