my graphics card has a fan built in, so would it be pointless if I bought this? the temp of the card is 46°C according to everest.

I have being wondering what is too high for temps for years, my comp has lasted so I am guessing my temps are fine lol.

Which graphics card you got? Normally these VGA coolers tend to knock off upto 10°C in temps, depending on the card.

If you decide to get the cooler get some Arctic Silver too.

Zalman i'd say are the best brand available in cooler, whether it be CPU or GPU.

great price, especially if your fan dies. seems to be more often with recent graphics cards ive had
#10
Has anyone used this and found it to be significantly quieter than the stock fan? Thinking of changing the fan on an 8800GT...

EDIT: Just read a review, says it's p virtually inaudible.

few years old now but it is a GeForce 7900 GTO Limited Edition I think still plays the latest games though, that was the temp just running my OS, not checked running a game yet lol

Is this good or bad? - Also I do not think the fan can come off or it does not look like it can lol

I had the 7900gt with this cooler and if i remember correctly, the temps were down to 38°C in idle mode.

This is what it looks like when in operation and the ran heatsinks in place.

Yup the cooler would work fine for that card. The cooler even comes with a manual adjuster for the fan speed.

Stonking price, heat and rep added!

A couple years back maybe. But today they're at the bottom. Thermalright, Xigmatek, Scythe, thermaltake, arctic cooling, Tuniq all stand above today.

This cooler is one of their gems from the past which still works great today, the rest is rubbish now.

looks very good lol, if I bought it would it cover my current fan or do you somehow take that off lol? clueless when it comes to graphics cards fans.

Also do you think I would need one with my current temps or would I be fine as is.

What worries me more is my cpu temp, it's usually on 45°C and goes up to 63°C sometimes when doing more demanding things.

This house is always red hot without any heating on too maybes that's why my temps seem high haha

Cheers for the help so far anyways

63C is cool for a modern GPU. People buy these because they want something quieter or they want to over-clock heavily or both.

To be honest if you play alot of games then its worth buying one. Also you will have to take the original cooler off in order to use this cooler.

#22
Ok thanks all, I think the next time I upgrade or get a new pc I will get fans like this!

Great price, almost bought one of these for £20ish a while back but went for a fanless one in the end. Just hook out the stupid blue LED and you'll be good to go

I just saw your avatar and I did actually laugh out loud. People often say LOL but I doubt they actually do. I was gutted when he missed that kick but that is still really funny. Where did you get it from? Cheers.

FAIL and WIN for posting that!

Id only really reccomend one of these if your cooling solution doesnt extract the exhaust to the rear of the case.

Nice deal though

will this shut the noise up my 2600xt makes, over what was a silent pc before adding the card?
#30
Just called PCWorld to check availability in my local stores, I was advised that this item is a discontinued one and all of the local stores are out of stock!

Did anyone have a chance to get any?

It's a very quiet cooler, even when you turn up the fan control to max you just about hear it.
