Hey,
Been on HUKDs for a few months now but here is my first post.
Not sure how good these DVD R's are but they seem a bargain for Dual Layer (8.5Gb).
I thought I would share with you. I hope these are good for you!
These are part of the wild wednesday deals - so not sure how long they are good for!

Welcome to the thread and first posting adamdroitwich.

I got my SVP email this morning and being a keen SVP buyer and wanting to move onto dual-layer I looked seriously at this... but if you go to the bottom of the link you'll see a number of buyers have voted these dvd's as 1/10. Not many dvd's sold by SVP get such a panning.

So sorry, on this occasion I have voted these DVD's as cold.
Note - the DVD's are voted cold, not you!
A very warm welcome to HUKD and thanks for your first post - please don't get discouraged - please keep your peepers open and post some more !

I had bought these one time, for that price I thought what was the point buying 4.7GB when I could have double that for the same price. I went with the reviews of the product which stated they were great DVD's (must have been planted comments). Bloody **** they were. They would write OK sometimes, but try and verify them!
I had to bin the lot of them, as they would not even write one layer at 2.4x speed. Later comments of course have the real quality of them, ie: rubbish.

SVP refunded me. They didn't even want them back!

I cannot understand why SVP are still selling them.

I think it is as their email listing states "Wild Wednesday Wipe Out" namely to wipe out their stocks of these.

SVP is a top retailer though - bought loads through tem and on the 2 occasions I had problems they were very fast, diligent and swift correcting it.

I think some recent comments on threads tend to disagree with this now - apparently they have had a recent company buy out, and are not the company they were before :-(

Something to do with the associated expensive Petfood site that runs alongside it....?:friends:

Well as well as having a buyout they have also just moved to a massive warehouse hence the recent problems that have been widely reported.

Recently the only problem I have had with SVP is that a lot of the batches of media seem to be of a lower level of quality than I would expect from them, certainly purchasing the very same media from a different supplier I have had very little problems - so not sure just where they source some of these "batches" from ...

Oh no! Cheap printable DL media, after the last lot I bought I'm steering well clear!

I think with DL media cheap does not work out very cheap in the end, as most of them end up in the bin. The name is probably a bit misleading, zero 'defects', is that guaranteed? :whistling:
