Whats the point of a PC with no os, never understand that, its like a ferrari with no engine

Some of us already own a retail copy of windows so for me its a good deal because im not paying for an OS I don't need. Heat added!

Quite simple, I have many operating systems on corporate licences so I could choose what to put on, this also makes it a lot cheaper, but mind you with this tower I would be suspicious of the fact the mb only supports 16gb all new mbs support upto 32 so might be an old system

Stick a 1050 in this and you have a relatively cheap PC that will play a lot of games very well.

It shows it as being a 4460, so Haswell refresh. I would presume it's a H97 mATX, still a solid platform.

I could be wrong but i thought the refresh chips were the unlocked 'K' series?

Install it yourself. Many places to grab a cheap copy of Windows or just run an instance of Linux for free.

Hmmm, with only 2 DIMM slots, I'd say it's more likely to be a H81 (entry-level) than a H97 (mid-range).

Ah! Looking again at the description, it says:

"
Intel® H81 Chipset
"

I agree. I think a better analogy is to drive a fast car without the driver...which of course we can have autonomous driving as the weakest point is the driver itself. The proverbial 'engine' is more the CPU

Good spot, I didn't read down that far.

Very flawed analogy. In computing the engine of a PC is always regarded as the CPU, which this clearly has. Still I would say not including a OS does limit the audience somewhat.

It's not a bad deal but IMHO massively inferior to the Tesco eBay deal yesterday (long gone now, they only had a few) which included the i7 4790 (top end Haswell), the same 8GB this has, an admittedly smaller 1TB HDD, but as they are about the easiest part to upgrade it hardly matters, and crucially Windows 8.1 so you have an OS and could probably upgrade to 10 for free via the assistive technologies upgrade path.....

Because there are plenty of people out there who would rather chew their own fingers off rather than ever have to use the abortion that is windows and therefore resent being taxed every time they buy a computer that they are immediately going to wipe and put a proper OS onto

250 watt PSU... no chance
