Would need a power supply upgrade and a new graphics card to be any use. … Would need a power supply upgrade and a new graphics card to be any use. Tempted if it ran xcom that's out at the end of the year

What a load of rubbish! "To be any use" depends on the use, doesn't it? Don't post advice like that when it is completely wrong.

A lot of people don't play the latest games on their PC, so this would be perfectly fine for most people.

Even if you want to do gaming then get a low-power GFX card and you'll be able to play most games at reasonable settings. I put an ATI 5670 in my Dad's Zoostorm PC (also 300W PSU) and it plays all games that have been thrown at it so far.

No HDMI is a pain, stops it being a viable HTPC

£30 HDMI enabled GFX card will sort that out

Wish more laptops were sold without OS. Have no use for a desktop, otherwise I would buy this now.

The G840 is a better processor than the earlier zoostorms on this site were the G620 or G630

Great PCs - I've got one bought a year ago and it's very good value. Very well built and laid out inside the case. Power supply a bit noisy but otherwise nice and quick and perfect for every day computing.
  15. dean_brfc's avatar
Wouldn't you get better value/performance by waiting for one of the £169.99 deals that appear very month and sticking a £50 graphics card in it?
  16. russ333's avatar
I got the one with 1TB hdd and 6GB ram before Christmas for £220. Good computer for basic use. Just upgraded another desktop with the g840 CPU, 4GB cheap ram and the cheapest mother board i could get and it cost £110. So this is a good deal.

There's no hdmi port and it's onboard graphics.

If it's the same as the other budget desktops they've been shipping recently then 300w.

these were great till i got a faulty one, and ebuyer tech team said it was fine
i lost £10 posting it back to them = stitched
no more zoostorms for me, poor support from zoostorm and ebuyer

still hot for what it is though!

I asked EBuyer about the PSU previously and they stated that they can't guarantee what PSU comes with it. It's either a 300W or 400W though, depends how lucky you are with the batch. I was unlucky as mine came with a 300W PSU, which doesn't provide enough juice to power my graphics card. They're cheap PSUs anyway and pretty noisy so it's worth replacing whichever PSU you get if you can afford to. If you're not bothered about gaming or excessive noise then the PSU will be sufficient for everyday use.

some people might want to consider a HP microserver at around the same price. Less powerful CPU, but better overall quality. Both need graphics upgrade card for hdmi. Neither PC great for gaming in any case.

I have the HP, it's great as a server and the build is good - sliding motherboard etc etc.

But if you're using it as a desktop, better off better off upgrading the GPU and PSU to avoid messing about updating the CPU in the HP. In my opinion anyway...

Bare in mind that the CPU in this is many times faster than the one in the Microserver.

I wouldn't use the Microserver for a desktop machine, but it's perfect for a NAS device (and vice versa for this box).

Another 'expert' obviously .. why do people who have no clue what they are talking about feel the need to comment and say something that just makes them look stupid?

Well, I have the lesser G630 zoostorm with a HD6850 in it and it plays it on high settings perfectly.

So it's safe to assume it will once a GPU is imported

I know 'batjon' has already asked this but could anyone advise on whether this would cope with audio editing? Personally I have a Yamaha audiogram and would like to record music. Would I need a dedicated sound card.

64 bit to make use of all the RAM (32 bit will only be able to give you use of less than 4GB)
