are you allowed to post ebay deals?

Not all ebay deals, only ebay outlet deals
(i.e. those from big firms like argos here)

interesting - last time I posted a netbook from argos clearance on ebay I had my post deleted by mods with no warning or explanation! I just took it as they were not allowed.

Maybe they are now

Can a mod clarify this please?

Ebay outlet deals are allowed (i.e. tesco, argos etc), see this quote from a mod:
sigma
Ebay Oulet retailers are now also permitted

Is this a good deal or not? Does anyone know of a machine with similar spec for better price?
#7
I bought this a couple of weeks ago.

Item arrived promptly, and is a very nice little machine - no concerns at all.

Box was slightly battered, but the netbook itself is virtually pristine.

I certainly dont think you can touch it at the price - especially considering you got a non-free OS with it.

this has been on Ebay for while now , they had like 700+ for sell to start !!! its got good feedback reviews on the actual argos website where its £199
#9
Wow. Scorching hot for a true N270 with XP and 1GB.

Buy buy buy!
#10
Thanks for this. Seems a decent price and just what im after for net browsing etc.
#11
If anyone has any questions, let me know I'll try and answer based on my experience!

The biggest let down IMO is the battery life - only 2.5 hours ish, but then again it is only a 3 cell - I assume that you can buy a 6 cell for this?
#12
Oh there is one other thing which irritates me (which I assume is just BIOS or Windows config, but havent had a chance to check properly).

For some reason, the Wifi adaptor defaults as DISABLED, so you have to press the key combo (Fn and F1) to enable it. This is the case every time you restart it...
#13
as above - can you get a 6 cell battery
also - what speed is the ram?

I'm still waiting for dell mini's to drop more in price

How does it do with Iplayer ?.

One thing with Argos clearance ,Dont expect the price to be guaranteed until all the stock has gone as they have been known to change the price while plenty of stock is left,

The problem with Flea Bay deals is that to have to sign up with that bunch of legal Flea Bay theives PAYPAL,
After my experiences with them I would rather do without thank you very much.

So tempted to get this! Just when I want the net save putting the big comp on, etc anyone know if the RAM is upgradable to 2GB? Only 108 in stock now...

EDIT: Just a google reveals there is a RAM slot upgradable to 2GB, hmm almost hitting the buy button...
#23
has it a microphone ?
#24
I have finally bought it going through quidco. quidco takes a while to track for the ebay account but its always worth trying!!
#25
A lot of the high street names have got outlet stores on ebay and they offer fantastic service and prices. Tesco outlet this morning had the latest ipod nano with camera (5g I think) for £85 refurbished and 1 year warranty, which is the same as Apples.

Why would you need more than 1GB RAM on a netbook, running XP?

Is that what you got? I am surprised thatyours one already tracked as mine takes 2 -3 days. I am expecting atleast £2 quidco
#32
Can the battery be upgraded (if so how much)?

How good is this for multi-page web browsing for example?

e.g. multible tabs on IE or F-fox.

Is that not obvious?! Well it will help with multi tasking of course, having say media player running and several net tabs open, and would help with youtube vids may be iplayer etc...

does anyone know if you can use word or open office on a little computer like this?

Hmmm, I suppose. I just thought 1GB would be enough. Multi tasking isn't really a big thing needed for netbooks. Its likely that you'd only have a web browser running with some tabs, and a media player playing music as you said, I thought 1GB would be enough to deal with it. You're probably right though, I just thought XP was much more friendly with RAM than the Win 7 I'm using now which is at like 1.4GB even thought I'm just web browsing!

My grammer is fine, I was just so surprised at the price and then saw the numbers in stock counting down,so grammer was the least of my worries at the time, as it is now. One netbook ordered !

Yeah, I know what you mean if all you want is web and media play then 1GB should do but if you want to do a few extra bits like having word on and a few extra progs then 2GB would be better, depends what you want to use it for.
