i got one of these last time. great little machine for its purpose. its windows 7 starter so it needs a little free program if you wish to change desktop background. very good though all in all.

listed under test auctions do not bid, but this was how it was listed when i bought my last one and it came through as normal.

heat added.
#8
Its a test auction and says do not bid - what does it mean?

Thanks itsmeitis

I found the answer. It appears to a "test in relation to apppearance" but it is in fact a real listing with fees, feedback status and binding contracts .... good logic ebay.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-no-item.html
A test listing can come in handy if you want to see the look and feel of your listing before posting it for everyone to see. However, to make sure people don't confuse them with actual listings, certain conditions need to be met (see below). Also, standard listing fees apply for test listings.

Restricted
For test listings, make sure you follow all of these guidelines:

Use the Everything Else > Test Auctions category only.

The word "test" has to appear in both the listing title and the listing description.

Have only 10 test listings at a time.

For test Feedback left or received for a test listing, follow all of these guidelines:

Create an account that you can use to leave or receive Feedback for a test listing. Don't use the account you have for buying or selling. If we see an account that breaks this rule, that account may be subject to suspension.

Make sure the test Feedback is used for testing purposes only. (If something looks amiss, we may remove test Feedback to avoid problems.)

The word "test" has to appear in the listing title and the description.

damn it! I always miss out on these!!!! MUST BE FASTER :)

Also got one of these last time. Seems they get sent back because the wi-fi doesn't work, if you read the instructions Fn+F1 key turns it on/off. I'll bet that is the problem most of the time. Also I couldn't get the webcam to work, another common problem. I did all the windows updates then uninstalled the webcam drivers rebooted and re-installed. Fully working now.
#24
Awesome machine for the price. Get Ubuntu Netbook Remix running on a partition, and its a fair bit faster.

BOTH mine have come sealed and totally unwrapped in the brand new box. Managers specials I think they were ? Both are definitely brand new and unopened though..
#26
Had mine for nealry a year now , they can get hot if used on your lap and not a hard surface, mine has frozen about 5 times in that year, needed a hard re-boot to resolve,

Wifi can play up at times but rarely , again a re-boot needed to correct

webcam quality not too good either

All in all , it is a nice little handy carry around bit of kit , glad i got it !!!

when you get it delivered do error check on the harddrive.
i got one of these last time and it started to run really bad so i did a error check on the harddrive and there are loads of bad sectors.
if you have them after getting it delivered it will save you time for sending it back because like me iv now got all my phtos and docs on my harddrive which iv not goto backup.
#28
i think you will find all drives have bad sectors , these will be marked and avoided upon a NTFS format ,

I think there is an acceptable level of bad sectors , before a exchange can be requested !!!

Bargain netbook for the price but it does suffer from a few little issue, mainly the fan is almost constantly on even when it's not hot which is annoying as it's quite a loud. Also the touchpad is a bit rubbish in particular the scroll part on the side, not sure if there is a way to turn it off and use the whole area for just moving the pointer about?

yes the touchpad scroll can be turned off is very annoying lol, here is how to do it:
click on the bottom right toolbar on the desktop till you get the finger-sensing pad icon, right click on it and then select settings, select the finger sensing pad tab, then click on configure, click on on-pad functions, clickk on on-pad scrolling and make sure the enable vertical and same on enable horizontal scroll box is unticked then select apply and ok. FIXED! yeah!

Thanks wozzer, but I don't have that icon on my taskbar. I should mentioned that I removed Windows 7 Starter and put Home version on instead so maybe that's why!?

Also does your also suffer from the fan issue?
