In Sheffield they had loads this morning.
My mate just bought 12 sets. You pay more than a quid just for the bulbs.
Very hot.

Just bought 20 at my Meir branch in Stoke. These are great for my letting houses, normally pay a fiver and as said the 4 bulbs would cost more than a quid!

Plenty left even after I filled my trolly!

Picked one up in Shirley,Solihull tonight. Was marked at £7 but went through the till at £1. Had about a dozen left.

awesome price, I have to go to B&Q anyway this morning so will have a look

Maybe I'm the only person actually considering buying these to put up as lights, but does anyone know (care!) what the the light fitting itself looks like? Can't quite see the gallery photo and haven't managed to find anything online. I need one for my son's room but don't want to drag the kids all the way over to B&Q if they're a bit naff!

Have you heard of Freecycle? Anything you don't want, someone will just take it away that can use it. I'm no eco-warrior, but I hate blatant waste like that, and I'm sure someone would be able to use it.

I work for B&Q and these went within a few hours yesterday. They were meant to be maximum 5 per customer but you guys seemed to have gotten very lucky. There were 4 other items for a pound as well. Next week there is more offers on but I'm unable to say exactly what they are.

They are a good set of lights. Nothing wrong with them, just cheap to drive footfall into stores. Give your local store a ring first though as I'd be surprised if there are any left today.

Ta! Any heads up on the other 4 items? We're about to undertake a garage conversion so lots of B&Q stuff imminent!

lol. That's a bit harsh!

Maybe a bit harsh, but my experiences with buy-to-let Landlords don't...............never mind.

does that mean I'm a cheapskate in a DSS house?!

No.

Don't do it. Kids never turn lights off and 4x50W = 200W of your cash burning away.

Plus mains halogens are the worst kind of lights - short life, expensive to run, expensive to replace, and dangerous too (get far too hot, often explode or shatter when failing, and usually take the house fuse with them). Just like with inkjet printers, there's a reason why the manufactururs sell the fittings so cheap, and were so keen to phase out the LV variants (low voltage fittings were expensive to make and the bulbs lasted too long = less profit).

You can get the energy efficient bulbs for these now. Thay are a bit longer than normal halogen bulbs but use less than a third of the electric. They also take a minute to warm up and work fully. Last of all they are £5 each at Tesco, I got mine when they were on BOGOF.

Any in blackpool?~

advertised in todays sun aswell.

bought 4 at my local in plymouth not many left tho

bought 5 at my local in midland many left lol

Got to get rid of my 1x100w incandescent lightbulb as EU are banning them. As I have pointed out to all government bodies concerned by email everybody is removing one incandescent to replace with 4 or more halogens. When you tell them this their response is that halogens are 50% more efficient, and they are right to ban the bulb! Maybe Jeremy Clarkson was right as some people can't see the wood for the trees.

It's a straight chrome bar with the lights spaced evenly along. Should be fine for kids room

Got 3 in Doncaster - they had 70 when I phoned this morning and they put 3 aside for me, good job as the rest had gone by the time I got there at 1! They're ok, not bad looking at all. Not worried about kids/lights on as he's still to young to reach the switch but already harps on about taps wasting water. Think they get taught it at school now. Would much rather have these as they're much brighter, I hate energy savers!

If any ones interested they had quite a few left in Yeovil store , somerset. They were at the end of a isle . At least 15 to 20 left , that was at about 7pm tonight.
