Is it the same Zovirax brand, if so great deal
#3
Good price, but your better off getting the boots electronic cold sore zapper as it cuts down re-occurrence.

I am half asleep. I thought it was for Zombrex.

It is generic, contains the same amount of cyclovir the active ingredient and I can assure you from personal experience it works exactly the same.

Why would anyone want to pay more for the branded Zovirax rather than one of the many generics, when the generics have exactly the same active ingredient? The British public's ignorance of basic science is depressing...a case of fools and their money.

You can pick up a tube of the generic stuff containing the same 5% acyclovir in Asda for £2; or as the previous poster said, perhaps in Poundland.

I use the Asda own brand and it works just the same, however....

I will vote this hot because it is an excellent price for the Zovirax branded treatment. You could vote Heinz baked bean deals cold because Asdas own brand are cheaper and contain the same basic ingredient or a Toshiba laptop deal cold because an eMachines laptop is cheaper but contains the same basic technology....

I'll second that. A few years ago I was getting one coldsore after another, I went through a period of 3 months with a coldsore in some shape of form around my mouth. I got the boots cold sore zapper and 2 weeks later the cold sores were no more. It's been 3 years since I've had one now thanks to it. The best £15 I've ever spent.

Thanks for the heads up on this. The only thing I've ever found that gets rid of coldsores is Boots own Coldsore Lotion, a clear liquid in a bottle. Gets rid of them very quickly but tends to dry it out so you get a scab that lasts a week. Might well try the zapper.

Zovirax and any other 'cream' just seem to make them swell up and get fatter and more painfaul as far as my experience goes, but I guess everyone is different.

damn it, quick glanced at it and thought it said zombrex :|

Is this the electronic thingy?

And is this a good price? The Boots one seems to be £34.99 and not £15.

Yes looks exactly the same, that's a good price - bought the Boots one at £34.99 even that was worth it

Keep your fingers, hands and face clean and dry any you'll not suffer too many 'cold sores' ie herpes to give it its true name.

If you get herpes once or twice a year this is an OK option (if its stress/heat related herpes especially) but if you get facial (especially away from the mouth) herpes often you should avoid these topical treatments because they may make the problem worse and recur often (great if you're a shareholder in Zovirax).

These topical treatments used to be by prescription only but since they're over the counter people treat them like chewing gum. And like chewing gun they're full of chemicals (which react).

Would you put this on the lips of your anus or vagina? Only if you had to. Apply (no pun intended) that thinking to the lips on your face and you'll use it much more sparingly.

herpes simplex virus would be more correct :)

Its 'Virasorb' you get in poundland, it has the same ingrediant as Zovirax.....'Aciclovir'

It does the trick ;-)

Voted cold, as this is not really cheap when you consider generic brands cost a lot less and contain exactly the same thing.

But it's still a very good price for Zovirax. That's like saying 24 cans of Coke from Asda for £4 isn't good value because you can buy a budget brand for cheaper. How ridiculous.
#23
I used to suffer so badly with coldsores. Creams wouldn't go anywhere near them. Someone in Holland and Barratt recommended Lysine suppliments. These keep all but the monsters away. When you feel one coming double up on th suppliments and zap it with silicea alcohol gel. I've not had one develop in over three years.

Not at all - there's a difference in the mix/ingedients of asda coke and proper coke. There is no difference between generic coldsore cream and zovirax - they are exactly the same stuff in a tube. What's ridiculous is someone paying through the nose for something you can have for a quarter of the price.

May be the placebo effect of Zovirax is worth the extra ;)

While you make a fair point ultimately the price of THIS product listed in the deal compared to the normal price of THIS product makes the deal a good one. For THIS product! Other products may be similar/same but ZOVIRAX at a price of £2.96 is a good deal FOR ZOVIRAX.

P.S. if you want to be pedantic Asda make cola, not Coke. Coke is a brand name.

All you are proving to me is that you're an idiot who pays through the nose for branded products even though they contain the same ingredients as their generic counterparts. Carry on paying through the nose for the likes of Zovirax - you're paying extra for the name, not the content of the tube. That makes it far from being a good deal.

I don't even buy Zovirax!! I am merely being objective enough to rate this deal on it's merit. £2.96 for a product that usually costs £5.99 is very obviously a good deal. FOR SAID PRODUCT. If you can't understand this very simple concept then it is clearly you that is the idiot.

@Prufrock.

Of course I understand what you're saying. But it doesn't mean what you are saying is right. If a consumer wishes to buy ZOVIRAX of their own free will, regardless of what you think of that decision, then £2.96 for ZOVIRAX is a good price. It is as simple as that.
