Jump to unread Post a CommentIt is supposed to according to the manual but it doesnt so i asked Zyxel if it was likely to be included in a future firmware release and they said the hardware isnt capable of it and it was an error in the manual so it wont ever have this ability.
Might not be a big deal to some but if like me you turn off your power sockets when not using them and the device itself is hidden away in a cabinet meaning no easy access to it it is a right pain in the ****! I got myself a Dlink DNS-320 instead as has this feature as well as 2 bays rather than just the one and I use this now purely as a backup device to backup my Dlink as this has no raid features obviously being single bay.
But apart form that its a fairly decent device although Id take the Dlink over it any day!

You can to a WOL (Wake On Lan) from computer like i do and most probably a phone app to save opening a cabinet.

Thats the thing though 90% of people will have this attached to a wireless connection or at best a 100mb lan connection and even in gigabit mode the zyxel DOES outperform the DNS-320 only just speed tests result on google show the zyxel maxing out at about 37mbs on gigabit for large file read and write and the DNS-320 at 32mbs so not much in it in terms of read/write speeds and once on wifi then no one is gonna get more than 10mbs out of any device! horses for courses really if you want a nas for pure speed file read write and nothing else and you got gb speed everywhere get this if you want to be able to raid it for backup, have better upnp and dnla support and loads of extra apps get the 320
