Looks like something from the 1990s.

That looks like a PCMCIA card so it'll be of no use unless you've got a fairly old laptop lying around.
#3
have this router for about a year now, no problems at all.very stable.
you should get a £5 for the PCMCIA card on ebay

Does it really matter what a router looks like?..I have this router/modem, I have had it for over year, no problems, rock solid.

Voted Hot, great price.

This is the older looking model which has been discontinued. The new ones are white and better looking.

Do these cope well if you're a long distance from an exchange? A bit like myself funnily enough.
#6
Does this support DynDNS?

EDIT: I think it does.
#7
Or you could just use dyndns updater 4.0.8

I've had one of these for about 2 years (for £70!), absolutely rock solid and I have only had to reset it once in that time and that was after a thunderstorm. I live about 5km from the exchange and get around 2Mb speeds on a MAX connection so you should have no problems with this. Loads of configuration options in the menus for people who like to set their routers up with very specific options - hot deal!

Some of the line tests on some websites tell you how far away you are e.g Samknows website does.

Just did mine:
You are approximately 2.13km from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!

Yes!

Zyxel make excellent routers, if you want guaranteed stability and features galore this is an absolute bargain.
#17
Heard alot of good things about these routers, gone for one myself. Can live with the old design chassis as long as connections are stable.
#18
This works perfectly! My neighbor has one, and even when I'm on the street outside his house I can get reception on my iPod Touch.

I have loads of modem/routers and I also have this one.

I bought mine with the usb2 dongle for £38 bout 1 year to 2 years ago and it is an OK modem/router.

I does have its faults like, rebooting when using n95 media server, I reported this to zyxel and they sent me a test firmware not sure if it fixed it or a newer firmware has been made available that fixes it as I took ill and lost interest changed modem/routers.

This m/router syncs to high as well (this is both a good thing and a bad thing) well it was sort of a good thing for me as my line is a bit krappy and was syncing low on belkin dlinks netgear etc, my line used to be better until bt gave my line to someone else and i got theirs. Anyway I bought one, I got a few more for customers and all of theirs sync a little too high as well, their line's are a bit more stable so their downloads where a lot faster than other routers they had tried, like over 100k a sec faster which they love, downside it my reboot a few more times then you would like.

It can also be used on xbox 360, wii, ps3 and it does what only a handful of routers in UK can do for games consoles and that is , example say you have 2 xbox 360's that you want to connect in your house to xbox live, yours and say your sons, try it with your router and chances are you're gonna hit a problem unless the upnp in your router actually works as it should, luckily the Zyxel's UPNP does work as it is meant to, in that it will open 2 ports per internal ip allowing an open status in xbox live as opposed to what you would get with 2 systems on 1 router that does not work as it should as in moderate or strict on 1 of the 360.

This is also the case on ps3 where you achieve Nat 2 on both and full use of the network options in 360,ps3,wii.

dlink624m works like this as well so does belkin 7633-4 I have these as well. I bought loads of /modem/routers to test this exact situation.

Damn, I was just thinking I might have the ideal one.

I had this for 2 years and I was very unhappy with it. My line is a bit rubbish but it would frequently lose sync and then be unable to regain a connection, sometimes for hours. it also used to reboot when I refreshed my list of game servers in Steam. Since changing to Be and using their provided BeBox all these problems have gone. Looking at all these rave reviews perhaps my previous ISP was more of the issue, i can't be sure.

Not if you want to run a server on a NAS drive or whatever, where the whole point is you don't have to leave the PC on!

I was slightly tempted to get one of these but i'm with o2 and as they've provided me with a couple of routers and after reading your experience i'm not so sure now.
#28
buy it and see return it if no good
#29
I'm still using this router. As mentioned before, I do have problems with loosing sync, however I think this is related to noise on the line.

Good router though, and have found customer support to be quick and helpful, even going as far as to actually phone me to discuss a problem I had emailed them about

This is a superb router - rock solid for months/years on end. I have two I use two (in different houses) and I've found them feature packed and great value, even without the lame PCMIA card.

Very hot.... and British.

Sorry for asking a silly question, but i have a virgin broadband line. Will this work with the virgin broadband?

They do a cable equivalent - mine cost £35 from PC World about 6 months ago.

Bit sceptical when I bought it as I'd never heard of the brand, but it's been absolutely fantastic. No problems whatsoever.
#35
Received mine today. Missed the fact it supports bridge mode which is a bonus. Can confirm it supports dyndns too. Not bad for the price!

Unfortunately, Misco could not confirm the version of the router.

Anyone who has bought this router - can you confirm whether this router (ZyXEL P660HW-T1) is version 2.0 or is it Version 1.0 ?

Cheers.

Whats the difference? If version 2 is the white one then no, its the black one you get.

The router should have a label on it which would state the version. If there is no version information on it then it is more than likely to be version 1.0. Can you confirm ? Thanks.
