Nope. An HDMI cable maybe, if you TV support it, as this only ships with a SCART cable.

Shop at Maplin ? ¿ Gosh... you must have too much money ! ¡ Amazon will fulfil all your cable needs, without the need to take out a 2nd Mortgage.

With difficulty? :p

Check how many Scart/HDMI ports the TV has, then make a judgement call on what cables to get. You can buy an HDMI switch box if you don't have enough ports, but they are outrageously expensive. Correction, there are cheap ones.

If you need an HDMI cable before Christmas it is an option to get one delivered with your box from Scan. There are a couple on the today only page around £4... one having swivel ends. But do pound shops do them yet?

This sounds very good for playing back those camcorder (High Def Panasonic) files that are on my backup HD. I understand that they are AVCHD which is a variant of Mpeg4. I see mention of Mpeg4 in the spec but not AVCHD.

Can anybody please confirm whether this will playback HD camcorder footage stored as an AVCHD file?

Will this act as the power supply for a 2.5" USB2 powered external drive?

As a regular on this forum how do I get free postage? I thought that had stopped a year or so ago. Edit; Now posted that £75 minimum spend required.

Yes - sorry - I hadn't realised and editted my post to remove my comment above on the subject. Shame they increased the minimum spend for free postage. Not sure whether to buy now or not.

Do I also need to buy two homeplug boxes (as shown in the youtube video) to use the streaming functionality?

Can I just connect my USB hard drive to this?
#18
Bargain, ordered thanks. Rep for the extra info around the item and help.

Somehow doubt it, unfortunately Zyxel techsupport is closed until Monday.

cheap but anyone serious needs to look at other options especially those that can handle 1080p and the HD audio side of things.

check out playonhd, mede8er, xtreamer, dune base/prime, popcorn hour c200.

why no wdtv live or v2? its simple and easy but far from being one of the best players...

True, if you double (or triple) the budget you do get more "useful features".
#24
sorry probably is a stupid question...

this connects to wireless router by ethernet, and can grab my movie files from my wireless laptop right?
whats the difference between buyin something like this for 30 quid or the wd one that got 470% a few weeks ago for 120 quid
#25
this is not very good if your into hd stuff... no mkv or 1080p

might as well use your 360 or a old xbox to do about the same
#26
cant seem to get a console playing the movies, ps3 always says dlna error and cant even add 360 as an "extender?"
#27

These have been out for about 2-3 years.

Were on clearance at PC World earlier in the year for about £19.97.

I passed mine on without trying it out in the end.

Would be useful to have a report from someone who actually used theirs. Anyone?

Where you see it on supersaver click buy and it comes to £22.99 then go straight to checkout,If you click on it first it shows you the original price which was £28.51 .

Reading reviews it seems this would be best for watching Divx and xvid downloads as opposed to the latest Hi def content,

popcorn hour c200 £300+, playonhd £140+, xtreamer £100+

I think i'll make do with a sub £30 player.

This CAN be used to stream YouTube, etc if you use TVersity as the upnp server. There are other DLNA server solutions to do this using transcoding of the live web feed. I've done it to this device for a number of live web sources.
#39
Mkv support can be done using RVersity as well, just as a by the by.
