If you look at the merchant list, this company ii actually listed as < 24gone (DO NOT POST) but you ignored that merchant & I think created a new duplicate merchant.

When a merchant has it means that those deals are not allowed to be listed on HUKD for various reasons, depending on merchant.

Hope that's answered your question

Ok next time I'll check the list - wasn't ignored just didn't look.

Thanks, appreciated

When I see any merchants with , I wonder if some newer members might think it means not to use that particular link & relist with their own link so I appreciate it can be slightly ambiguous, even if you notice existing merchant listing.

If you need to double check anything or need advice on new merchants in future just use the button - we're always happy to help. :)

Why would a merchant have a rule? I can understand HUKD's stance if the content of a website or the products being offered are offensive or illegal but I can't see any reason why that particular website would have broken any "rules".

Surely that by refusing to list deals for legit websites you're doing your own registered users a dis-service? I also came across the same offer as the original poster referred to (through another website), saw it seemingly hadn't been spotted by any other HUKD members and submitted the offer, only for it to disappear when i later checked on it.

I'm also curious why this site is banned? So far I've only heard good things about them?

I like it when new users fight a new site's corner :-)

Second that!

Does seem strange when the site has a partner offer with SVP that their other site is banned. Is SVP also banned now?

Same with BigPockets and Boffer Sy. I don't understand it, some good deals to.

I suspect its because the site has only been operating since 14th Nov - maybe HDUK are waiting for the site to prove itself reliable first before allowing deals....

Ibood, Boffer etc deals should be allowed though - okay they may only be available for a short time but most very hot deals on here sell out very quickly anyway .....

I'm curious to know who from? Their first item went on sale on the 19th Nov....

Yep, Gari's correct, nothing will have been even delivered yet so your post will not help the cause will it !!

(Perhaps that's why we have a ban ???)

imho these 24 hour deal sites dont need deals on here every single day. they are just used by bigger companies to put their **** onto
[admin]#13
24Gone is the "same" company as boffer. SVP has been bought out by E-net, the company that runs bigpockets, bigmaggot, ukdvdr.

Anyway - we had some self promo issues so they are sitting it out.

I heard from a few people elsewhere that the company owned another reputable site, and they were eagerly awaiting this new site's launch as a "British Woot".
But, point taken on them not delivering anything from this particular site yet.

Thanks for the response btw

I would say that Boffer and 24gone now from the same people don't really offer bargains. They have been set-up to promote themselves as bargain outlets and their offering an item for sale for a short period is designed to make it seem like a bargain. They deliberately rely on the fact that people will be fooled into thinking it is a bargain because they have to make a quick decision to buy. You don't have time to find out what the completion is or ask for advice because you will be scared you will miss out.

They are deliberately taking advantage of sites like this one, knowing that people who don't know any better will post their deals and give them free advertising. It would be like someone sitting watching the QVC shopping channel an posting each product that was being shown. In fact the likes of boffer and 24gone appeal to the same sort of person that shops on a shopping channel.

What is concerning is the way that 24Gone seems to be hiding the fact that it is just an extension of boffer to make you think that you might find a better deal there, it makes it look like there is more competition in the i day offer sites, but that is not the case as these are basically two names for the same site. So now they can offer two offers at the same time and potentially double the money they can extract from unsuspecting buyers.

Well said. When i went on 24gone i realised it looked exactly like the old boffer.
In allowing their deals on this site boffer and 24gone pretty much dont have to pay for any marketing as most of their stock would be sold daily through here. Alot of the stock is old and so it is hard to make a good price comparison.

Being made to "sit it out" for self promoting is right and proper obviously, ( although I don't quite understand why Bigpockets and SVP aren't "sitting" also) but as for the other member criticisms of Boffer and 24Gone I'm not sure I understand them.

Most online retailers are fighting for business now and using as many marketing skills as they can muster. These include:
Deal of The Day
Monday Madness
Lunchtime offers
Evening Offers
Wednesday offers
Payday offers

etc, etc, etc.

Virtually all these offers find their way onto HUKD through newsletters, spam so there really can't be a lot of difference can there ? They all try and push the consumer into buying their product in quick time and under "pressure".

As for Boffer's and 24Gone's products being rubbish well that's really a matter of personal choice isn't it ? You can't really start telling members what they can or can't buy can you ?

Lastly and with regard to the supposed secrecy of the 2 companies being owned by the same people overall that goes on all over retail. I didn't realise that Bigpockets and SVP were under the same umbrella until Admin mentioned above but when you look at companies like Blah, The Hut, Boot's Electrical (and I could probably go on and on) they all have other identities, if that's the right word, online or they supply other identities.

This is where the power of the members and their ability to make a deal hot or cold comes in. Individually it doesn't matter whether we think a deal is good or bad - it is the collective power of many members that makes or breaks a deal......

As for the short time period, you could say exactly the same for misprices but these are allowed.

However if SVP, Boffer or 24gone have been self promoting they have broken Admin's most sacred rule......

This is what every company tries to do...........it's the same as relying on people impulse buying at supermarkets, shops etc.

You can't blame them for that. The people to blame are those that are greedy/gullible etc that feel the need to get in first. If people can't use restraint then that's their fault.

I don't buy a lot from the deals here, only if it's something i actually want and then if i find a deal which makes it cheaper that's a bonus. Whereas there are also people who will buy purely because it's a 'bargain' and i can never get my head around that.

Is it ok to post deals for this Company now?
If yes, what about Boffer, Ibood etc.....

Already seen that thread , the only reason I ask is that there was a deal posted for 24gone this morning (can`t find it now, must have been removed) and when submitting a deal for them it no longer states "DO NOT POST"

Edit... just looked again, there seems to be 2 listings for 24gone, top one ok , bottom one "DO NOT POST"
