Admin is talking... in other threads... click "new" or "discussed" to see them... it also might help if you change to "text only" view, mightn't be such a shock to your system.

Hi ste333

We are taking all feedback on board. Obviously constructive feedback is more useful and will be considered. For example saying I can't do x is going to be constructive whereas saying shoot the designer isn't.

The first priority right now is working on stabilising performance and getting that working right.
#3
If not reinstating the old design, could members have a choice of which they prefer?
#4
I agree, please returne the old lovely warm site.
#5
Have to admit that im finding this site difficult to navigate compared to the previous version, which if honest im surprised has been changed....
#6
Thanks for the replies. I have been trying to view other threads...with limited success.

Apart from expressing my thoughts on the new site, the main reason for my post is that I simply don't have the time to keep trying to re-load pages or continue logging in, and that the petition thread I have read doesn't seem to have any admin comments in there.

Is there any likelihood that the old site layout will be reinstated, or are we all wasting our time asking for this? We wouldn't all be posting if we didn't think it was a serious matter - I don't think this can simply be attributed to people 'fearing change'; I welcome it - as long as it is a change for the better. In this case, the changes seem to be a huge step backwards.

Right, I hope the site works better now, here's my constructive criticism:

* The green bar at the top looks terrible. Green is not a "hot" colour, either.
* Why is the control panel/PM/Logout font nearly as big as the title? It looks very wrong.
* Why have the panels at the top got bezels at the top, but not the bottom. This looks weird too.
* Why the wasted space between the last quote/post reply/quick reply? It's doing nothing. This space is also before the comments/ menu bars
* The tabs are confusing and too big
* Links from RSS no longer work in Firefox (for me at least)
* You forgot to put a capital on "deal anarchy from the masses"
* Wasted space between about every panel on your page, pages are far too long now.
* If a thread has no replies, you get two post replies buttons one after another. Then a quick reply panel? Why three ways to do one thing (am I missing something here)
HTH. Please can you give us an option to have something more like the original view?

Bob - click "text only " from the home page, for example.

Shoot no, but certainly a good whipping is in order for sure.

There is a saying. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Even as I type. The font size of my comment is about 3pt. I can barely read what I'm typing.

It's all wrong...all of it I tells you. This is your user base letting you know that what has happened is a bad thing. Please take it on board. I know you don't owe us anything and we'll all end up learning how to use it eventually, but what has been done here is extremely unnecessary and poorly advised.

awful cant get to grips with it!

Admin,

If your in 'ALL' & 'ALL' in text mode it doesn't show the FORUM location that each thread is in.

Is it possible to ADD in an extra Column beside each thread with a heading of 'FORUM 'and show the location of the thread as it used to in the old Forums.

(e.g. in the gray bar like this ............................................ Thread / Thread Starter..................... Last Post ................................. FORUM ............................................Comments Views

I think it would it 100 times more easier to navigate.

Good timing - the busiest (shopping) week of the year.

I had an update on a deal that was posted a week or two back and for the life of me I can't find it - the SEARCH function seems to be completely random (I'm sure it's not, but it appears that way).

I think there should have been more significant user- and focus-testing before launching to your unsuspecting 'shoppers'.
As someone else has said, I also don't have spare time to invest trying to navigate around the flaws, so I'm off and might check back after Xmas to see how it's going. I honestly believe you have made a significant error in judgment with both the timing and the execution of this. I hope you are able to recover, as this site has been a wonderful asset for many thousands of bargain-hunters. However, like all of the companies you report about, there is always competition and an alternative if you are unhappy....

Thanks Mecoconuts - good idea.

I hate this bring back the old site
#15
I have to say, the navigation of this new site is awful. The reason I used HotDeals instead of the alternative was because of the ease at which you could find stuff. I'm not worried about colours... etc, I just think the whole thing look cluttered and confusing (not to mention my Firefox has text on text everywhere).

I found this too,i had'nt a clue what forum i was in,as when your in it,it does'nt tell you, like the old version did, this is causing a lot of confusion,i tried to post deal, but it said hotukdeals is having a rainstorm :w00t: and dealing with new codes etc, with a wee cloud pictured?

If you are seriously thinking of keeping this design it will be a disaster.

I fail to see how anyone on this planet or any other could think this was good,
#19
it does not appear to show that you have contributed to any deal, thread, i found that usefull when trying to find something. Also i cant see any (last page) which is annoying.:-(:-(
I can see lots of people missing deals!!!!!!!!!!
#20
Sorry but the site's now unusable. It's just staggering that anyone would give this format the okay - it's killed everything that's good about HD.

Shocking, staggering, disgraceful...and as the person above said, just in time for the period when there's hot deals galore.

I like the new look, feel and the front page. I agree I don't like the forums set up or the way topics are listed though.

Click "text-only" - that is similar to before?
#23
I agree with most people here. I prefer the the old system. Not just for the sake of it but I think that the layout was better. Was there a beta site to test this before it was rolled out? I want the old site back.
#24
I would have to agree about this new design and layout. It has been changed for the worse. The layout is very old fashond looking and alot harder to navigate around. I liked the simplicity of the other version making it more complex is not a good thing. Putting that aside I cant even say a good thing about the way the graphics look...It is an ill concieved ugly design with poor colour combinations. I which i had something more usefull to say but it's all so bad it's hard to pin point any particular thing!!!!!!!!!!
#25
Sorry guys- while I understand that change is inevitable, progress is not. Unfortunately, I don't think this change for the best. The older style was was better in terms of layout. However, some of the new features are better too.

In conclusion, bring in the new features with the old interface e.g. the new multiquote system.

Server errors hotscot, you just have to be patient with us in the meantime.

Major issues for me are -:

a) The font size when your replying to posts

b) No way of knowing which forum you are viewing i.e. comments, misc, deals etc (fixed realised about the tabs)

c) Dates in American format i.e. Year, Day, Month

d) The find all posts by user function can only be accessed when you see a posters name on a thread and even then it pulls up a generic search screen not a list of users posts

e) You cant jump to the actual post in a posters thread via the member profile screen (which is a nightmare if the post your looking for is buried in numerous pages)

i've been trying on the text only all morning (when i'm supposed to be writing my essay:whistling:)
anyway... it's still not good, youdon't get the blue tick to say you've written in a thread - it took me a good 30 mins to find th thread i wanted to update regarding a recieved delivery - and when you do a search or list for shop deals, its not even in date order (ie last person to post) i been getting stuff up on first page dating bacl to 2006. regardless of whether you use normal or text only, this sight certainlt is not easy to navigate. wouldn't it have been easier prior to the change to see if people were up for it? not afterwards having an unhappy community?

Hello Admin
To be honest I like this new look,
The only thing I suggest you do is to give this new format the "forum look". i.e. keep the ONE LINE titles. so user can see the 20-30 post in a go and will still feel part of the site.

Admin is aware of some of those. Where are you seeing the american dates? It seems ok for me.

Have you viewed by "text-only"... that's what that button does...

Please consider putting the old site back and relaunching this (after some work to tidy it up) in March.

I'm sure you all put a lot of work into it but frankly it sucks in its current state and I'm trying to get my Christmas shopping done and the new design is about as friendly as fighting the crowds down at oxford street. I'm seriously about to go find another bargin website to use...

Yep ! Just click on the NEW or DISCUSSED Tab on the top bar.

1 request if you are going to keep this new layout. The large bold font that lists the forum topics (in text mode), any chance of removing the bold setting? Think someone else has mentioned this as well.

Vile.

Absolutely vile.

Who the hell thought they should change the whole site without thinking to get a user group involved, canvass opinion on the new and old, put it to the vote...

I've worked in IT for 15 years, and this is the most ludicrous change I've ever known.
I bet your meeting was good eh? Web designers push for it by any chance did they? Laughable...

Theres tons of problems here. Hopefully their get fixed.

Has anyone found a way to display all the vouchers? Trying to look at the vouchers now and its all mixed up and can't find a way to filter. Theres a filter by shop at the side but this doesn't seem to do anything.

Also the RSS feed doesn't seem to be working, even with the custom feed I'm still getting only the hottest deals, not the latest like I used to. And what the heck is up with these text sizes?!
