It would.

Ask a mod to move this to misc and I'm sure a dev will look into it.

Er, can't seem to find how I contact a mod.

I would prefer the developers actually got the basic search working properly before trying advanced features

speaks volumes that long term users resort to google to find anything on here!

Like FP, the more I think about it, the more I think it may be of benefit to some users of the site.

As SSD deals seem to upset so many, I'll use that as an example;

Someone had decided they wanted to take their first steps into the world of taking their computer to bits. They decide to swap their HDD to a SSD and wanted the cheapest deal because they weren't absolutely sure what they were doing/on a tight budget/whatever.

Other than when someone asks in misc what was the deal with the most comments or heat, does anyone ever search for deals with at least X number of comments of within a set range of heat? This could be more useful than some of the current search fields.

Sorry, quixoticduck, you did post in Misc. I meant to say move it to Feedback in my first post. I reported my comment and I guess a mod worked out what I was on about. :)

As we've said before, if you have any specific problems with the search please let us know. We are constantly fiddling with it based on member suggestions!

Adding a price field to the advanced search seems reasonable, and I'll put it in the user-request queue.

Oh okay :)

I'm glad that a lot of people seem to like my idea. All I know is I find the search feature much harder to use on this site than most others. I think price would be a good addition and don't really see it as an 'advanced feature' but if there is a better way to improve the search then do that instead. I just want it to be a lot easier to find stuff!

How often do several threads get posted about the same thing where there is only a difference in price?

So lets say you are looking, for arguments sake, for a tin of Heinz baked beans.
Do a search for "Heinz baked beans" and I'm sure it will be obvious straight away which is the best deal.

Having said that.....I just did that search and every deal was expired see here.

Having looked at those results.......then you would have factor in what size the tin was, how many tins were in the offer.

That would pretty much be impossible to do given the vast amounts of products / sizes / quantities on offer.

I think this is a no go....Personally.

I don't understand. The search just needs to tell you the price that the deal-maker input. Would help me so much! Obviously the deals will vary but I don't expect it to be a perfect system which can tell me the best price, it won't be perfect in every situation but will certainly help in others. I wouldn't have thought it would be especially complicated? Remember there is still the option to search above a certain heat and non-expired (I think) so you wouldn't end up with ridiculous deals in your search results such as a gram of sugar for a penny, where it is the cheapest but not actually a decent deal (I that's what you were worried about?) I didn't understand your point fully.

Also "What, so I have £5.00 to spend.
Give me a list of everything for £5.00 and under?

I personally can't find that useful at all." yeah, I think I would find that useful, but if you don't I don't think there's any harm it being an option? Maybe if nobody wanted it it would be a waste of dev time but it seems some people would like it. :)

bump - this feature should be high on the development schedule if you ask me

such a nightmare trying to find things from stores under a certain price and surely cant be much work involved to progress this

Thanks. :) I had forgotten I'd made this thread. glad others agree it would be useful.

It's been nearly a year so thought I'd bump this. I know there's probably been a lot of focus on the hukd apps (although those don't seem to have a way to view the top 10 hot deals of the day/week/ever so I don't use them sadly) :( but maybe this could be looked at now? I need this kind of thing all the time so I do think it would be worth it, or maybe I'm alone in that.

I know some people don't bother to use advanced search, but I do all the time on most sites and it seems like this would be the most logical search function besides deal temperature and date! I can't work out what I want more; hukd to have this search option or Amazon to be able to search for 4 1/2 stars and above rather than just 4 stars and above EKSJFNSDKFJNDSFLKND.
