Col isn't going to be online all the time, this FS needs an element of self-policing and posts like Abacus made in the FS forum should be encouraged in my opinion. Can understand his frustrations but he was asking to be banned with an abusive PM - hopefully he will have time to think and he'll reconsider his decision to move on :)

No one is, nor can be online all the time, i respect that, so have more than 1 For Sale mod, not that difficult, and from my own perspective (best way i find) my sales were hardly out of hours.

I sold 2 items last week, in 2 separate threads and neither of them received the "follow the rules" post, and both sales went thru fine.

So were you breaking the rules in any way?

It shouldn't be necessary for a mod to post in every FS thread (the disclaimer system was removed with the site change) - as you are a long term member they shouldn't need to even check out your post - they will spend enough time doing so in threads by new members. But I do agree the FS forum is growing so fast it could do with an extra FS mod (especially as the burden which used to be shared between all moderators is now effectively placed on just one) - failing this, members who helpfully self-moderate those forums should be encouraged to do so ;-)

haven't we all reacted in that way in that surreal place we call "real life"? Real life is not mutually exclusive to this place, and we all have feelings and ideas

Yes, and in "real life" we suffer the consequences.

Dunno Shengis, was i? Can no one sell til the Mod's have posted their comments, thus giving the seal of approval?
Abacus was being helpful, as does Sassie.....now we have one less now :-(

Point me to the threads and i'll tell you;-) As for Abacus, i'm not getting into that as he's not here to defend himself but...

Photos and feedback from other sites is NOT mandatory when listing an item, therefore asking for them when you have no interest in purchasing could well be considered thread spoiling.

well i think it shoul dbe encouraged. i thought photos were needed when selling an item. and they only post what col would have done, and seems he isnt here at the time they post they arent stepping on his toes. the spiteful member that posted the post cmplaining imo was just stirring and he should have gotten a ban for trying to cause trouble.
maybe if more people tried to be like abacus then we wouldnt have as many scammers.

Just look for my recent posts Shengis, i don't post much of late anymore on here, won't be too tough to find the 2 sales.

As for the pics and feedback from other site's not being mandatory, as JJ as just said above me, then just having checked posts by Col in the for sale place, that's a what of what he asks for, and was always asked by mods, even if it's not mandatory......rules in place, but not needed......

I am not for one minute condoning what abacus has done, as they have been quite rude to me for my help in the FS boards, although in fairness to abacus i did receive an apaolgy pm off them when they decided to stat helping in the FS boards themselves

The FS board has become more of a joke since it got a "full time" mod than it did before, members are treated differently. ooops meant with discretion, and it is not fair. I posted a question in here two days ago to clear up a matter and not one member of the team has responded. Memebers are supposed to follow rules that arent even clear, and never will be as discretion mean if your face fits then your ok, two different members posted a new thread whilst theirs was still running, when this was pointed out both of the members reported there thread and asked for closure of the old one, one member got his closed and the new one was left, the other got his new one removed from the boards, so the complete crackdown depends on what mod closes the thread, or did the same mod do them both

Another i reported this morning at 10-30 for selling elswhere, is still on the boards

Well checking your posts the only recent one was for the 360 controller so maybe one got deleted?? At the end of the day there shouldn't be any reason for anybody (including Col) to post up the comment about pics/feedback. If the sellers organised they should give that info anyway, even if just to generate more interest. Like Sassie said though, it's all getting a bit silly from both sides of the fence.

This isn't really true. We do still respond to reports in the FS/FT forum, and col is an EXTRA who is dedicated to this area.

As I've said before, the member who complained about abacus had a post removed and received an infraction - one point. Another point will lead to a short ban.

Abacus, however, went back to this user's for sale thread and kept winding up the seller. For example, when the seller said "please only post if you have an interest in the item", abacus chipped in with "ok then!". Abacus wasn't punished for helping out in FS/FT... I would never have done that. It was the fact that he knew the seller was argumentative but continued to wind him up.

I only gave abacus a warning for this, the equivalent me of sending a PM saying "please don't do this any more". A warning carries no points at all, so it can't lead to a ban. But when a moderator gets a private message in response to a warning all in capitals with lots of swearwords and calling us names we don't take it very lightly.

It's not about stepping on toes or the FS/FT forum at all, so any discussion of the moderation of FS/FT being linked to abacus' ban is unfounded. We just expect respect for moderators, the rules, and the system here.

Hope you all have a good weekend. :)

Is the irony of this kind of thread not obvious? You cannot ask for more enforcement and equality on one hand and then complain when it is applied on the other.

In my eyes being a long term member should mean expectations are higher in terms of how they follow the rules.
