For example, the link in this post causes it to happen.

Sorry nightswimmer, don't know what you can do with this one ? I tried the link & all is working well for me ?
Good morning anyway :)

Have just thought, have you tried signing out then signing back in again and ticking the box that says 'remember me' ?
If not this might keep you signed in.

Morning Snowtiger - thanks for trying. :) What Operating System and browser are you using?

Yep, I've tried all that. I've also tried it on two different computers, and the same thing happens on both.

You know what... happens to me too! Firefox 2.0.0.13

The weird thing though is that I'm still signed in on this page and can post a response. I clicked your link in a tab and then clicked the link in it in a tab and that last page had me signed out but this original tab was still signed in and I can post. I tried doing a refresh on that last page but it still showed me signed out.

Ah ha! Figured it out. It's because that link is http://hotukdeals.com and this one is http://www.hotukdeals.com

The thing I don't get is where did MoneySpinning pick up the non www type link?

Yep, I'm getting the tab thing too, I just didn't know how to explain it clearly.

I'm no sure if it's connected, but I'm also still getting the problem described in this thread.

Well spotted.

I'm not sure, but I know this happened a couple times when I clicked on links yesterday, so it's not a one off.

The behaviour you note in this thread is because that link goes to http://hotukdeals.com not http://www.hotukdeals.com. http://www. is technically a subdomain so to your browser those are both different sites and the cookie is subdomain specific (i.e. it only applies to the http://www. subdomain).

Whoops sorry we cross-posted! Yeah there must be somewhere it is being generated like that and people are copy/pasting. If we can find where then we can fix it.

So the quick fix is to sign into both domains. :)

Nah just put http://www. in front of hotukdeals in the address bar and presto you will be signed in.

he must have copied it from elsewhere in the site... would he manually take out the www ?

Anyway, this happens to me too. Sometimes when I am posting a quick reply at the end of a thread, I usually press tab then enter to post it quickly. The odd time it logs me out and clears cookies, and my post has disappeared.

Maybe he's just typed "hotukdeals.com" into his browser and runs his entire HUKD in that... I think J_B possibly does as the links she sends me are usually http://hotu...

If I do that then it goes to the http:// site and not the http://www. site. Maybe it needs adding in the cookie as the same site or something?

All you need to do to fix this is when setting the cookie use .hotukdeals.com

Notice the period (.) before the domain. This will make the cookie available for ALL subdomains
[admin]#14
Yes but we don't necessarily want it to be available on all subdomains... :)
