Hey many thanks for that BB. Interesting to read in the article that the company has been praised on MSE: that's a pretty good seal of approval.

The only method of contacting the firm is a mobile phone number. The other thing that caught my eye was the mention that the site had a note offering a discount to users who recommend the site on HUKD and MSE, a type of bias which HUKD doesn't permit...

The website domain is registered to a "UK individual". Businesses are not permitted to do this. Also, the only method of contacting the firm is a mobile phone number. The other thing that caught my eye was the mention that the site had a note offering a discount to users who recommend the site on HUKD and MSE, a type of bias which HUKD doesn't permit...

Mmmmmm Sound's a bit suss!:?

I've bought from the site twice before, browsed it a lot, and seen no mention of that type of discount at all. If that's true, fair enough, but I've seen no evidence of it myself - both orders delivered fine and paid via Google Checkout.

Thanks to you also Ashe. I'll give them a go and see.

HUKD censorship:thumbsup:

Shame really as it seems like a really cool idea which has been up and running for some months. However, according to the forum over on MSE it may be a victim of its own success as it has been taking lots of orders and struggling to get them out as quick as it was doing before it hit the headlines. Hopefully the take on of new staff will resolve this.

Lots of posters on the thread were quick to dismiss it as 'dodgy'. I have seen dodgier websites and the fact that MSE members have placed orders and recieved stuff okay will do for me:thumbsup:

Personally I think the use of a mobile number to contact 'the boss' is a brave one and perhaps if Dan is reading this he could put a 'proper' office number on his website to satisy those that doubt the integrity of the firm.

Hi hukd,
I'm a bit of a lurker on here, really usually on MSE. So forgive me for my newbie ways. Thought I may be able to help with a couple of points. The site is good- people on MSE have been to the warehouse where he also sells stuff. I've had 4 deliveries and its saved me loads of money- particularly on lunch box stuff. For instance, a box of 30 slight seconds fabulous baking boys cakes for £1. Essentially it has taken off very quickly after being on mse a few weeks ago and so the guy who runs the business-Dan- has shut the website to new orders a couple of times so they could catch up. However, as I write it is open.

There was a code on mse, but after some problems with the courier he was using he switched to DHL and stopped the code working as it was costing more. So the deliveries were more reliable, but I don't think there is a working code at the moment.

We have found the company really good if anyything goes wrong- they call up sometimes if something is out of stock, and refund if stuff not available. They operate through google checkout.

Anyhoo, that may help. As it has been in a couple of papers this weekend Dan posted to say he had taken on more staff and was gettinga lot of business-so orders may be slower I guess.
I have no connection with the company- apart from a garage full of peanut butter I bought in bulk in a moment of slight madness when I first got onto the site...:whistling:

Hi, how long did your deliveries take to come?

So are there no free delivery codes or anything? SIte looks fab and I want to do an order, but postage is quite a bit?

Deliveries were 3-5 days, but they are likely to be very busy at the moment so I would not rely on it for Friday's lunch...
Postage is worked out by weight, up to 28kg for £5.95 ish?? The website calculates the weight. I stil think it is well worth it- depending on how heavy the stuff is- I try to get a mixture of bulky and light and heavier stuff. Keep an eye on the final basket and top it up till it goes over, then start removing things.
