Thanks Magicbeans - are you using the ruder meaning of shizzle here? I just had to look it up.

Aria is banned?

Hahahaha, good riddance to bad rubbish! Always advertising their 1p deals with £10 delivery charges!

I live quite close to Aria. Its not just a site. It started as a shop in Longsite now its a big warehouse with a shop attached near Gorton. It's a good shop and its cheap. Returns are good if you know what the problem is. Better than OCUK and thats not banned. Cheaper too!

The aria counter is fine - been lots of time, but very slow.
Dont expect great service though.

I'm also kind of curious now if this is a permanent ban after this thread was topped...

Had a quick search of HUKD to see what this is all about but looks like their last deal was posted 11 months and 2 weeks ago?

Seems a bit harsh to me if it's just for self promotion, unless they've repeatedly done it before and had multiple bans previously and never got the hint.

Just seems a shame to me that a potential very good source of deals has been banned for this long

Disagree. In my experience the returns/support counters of these medium sized independents are ALWAYS horrendous.

It's still banned because it's no big loss to them, Aria is not on Quidco, hence no affiliate income ;)

Bleh, just tried to link to Aria for a monitor and yet again, moderated post. Surely Aria cant be perma-banned, I have watched trolls on here do far worse than what Aria have done and still remain members. Aria do some cracking prices and I have always found their customer support fine.

as soon as they start toeing the line and up their click through kick backs then they'll be back . It didn't take long until ebuyer were allowed back on after numerous bans.

To be fair if they just did and promise to do what other companies do (The Hut group immediately springs to mind) i.e. just tell the Mods what deals they've got on and let the Mods post them they would probably be OK even with their history (and yes E-Buyer have nearly as bad as history as them).

As people have guessed I not averse to criticize the way this site is run but this is one of the rules that in my opinion is hard and fast.

My comment wasn't so much a criticism on the spamming rule which is fine and any company that doesn't follow it well hell mend them.

Just the way it's being portrayed as protecting the "community" when 2 days later after some intense "negotiaions" sites that were previously banned are welcomed back with open arms and all the previous shenanigans are forgotten.

It's happened before and will happen again - this is a business not a service whatever they try and promote it as, you know that as well as me - you've been here just long as me.

At the end of the day this rule tends more or less to stick and if companies abuse it they won't have their deals on here for a while.

Now do they actually care, maybe maybe not, anyway it's irrelevant anyway - what you, me or anybody actually says in feedback is mostly just noise (with the possible exception of FS/FT problems).

I think you've summed it up nicely really - its just the fact they pretend its something its not really. We know the site is here to make money first, and be of use to the community second. Obviously the 2 are intrinically linked, but lets not confuse the issue - if sites pay up, I'm sure they'll be back.

That's exactly what's happened, and after they were suspended repeatedly for spamming Hotukdeals they then went down the route of incentivising their forum members to submit on their behalf. We need to be able to trust that merchants will respect the site and it's rules and not just use it for a free platform to spam whatever they want.

Same member using this thread to say the same comments about Hotukdeals they always do I see.. locking this up, you can see from gari's link above what happened, we've made our decision and it's not something that's open to discussion at this time.

FYI we always invite merchants who have been suspended for this issue to get in touch with us and explain how they've handled the situation that led to their ban at their end. Most of the time, it's a mistake on the merchant's part or a miscommunication between their staff and so we give them another chance once we're satisfied that merchant will adhere to the rules. That goes for all merchants, many of you seem to think we earn commission on all the links, that's simply not the case. If we were so focused on revenue I can assure you we'd have been running banner ads and weekly newsletters featuring the highest bidder since we started. That's not what Hotukdeals is about and it's pretty disappointing that long term members like yourselves still don't get why Hotukdeals works so well. It is a community, it always has been, we don't censor our members and we don't restrict content, allowing members to post deals for all merchants, providing those merchants look safe and can stick to our rules. The problem with Aria and other merchants who've done this in the past is that they don't care how our site works, they think they've a right to be above the rules and promote their content without giving users the option to stumble across genuinely decent deals themselves. We never have allowed that behaviour and we never will.
