Search by thread start date...........

I knew someone would say that - its the reason I nearly didn't mention, and have bit my tongue since joining in Jan. But why not use quick search for something easy like "frijj"? Or if it is fundamentally broken, don't offer it as an option, just link to advanced search.

4 weeks good idea though as reposts after 1 month are ok

Exactly. Or you could use the contact us button if the deal is still available and a mod could grant another 4 weeks life to the deal

The more obvious solution to your problem is for the default search to order by date, some deals will stay at the same price for months on end so by auto-expiring it makes it difficult to identify those which are still active. The admin response on reposts is somewhat confusing at the moment as more recently it was commented that older deals should be bumped and not reposted despite previous comments to the contrary.

the problem with hukd is that members find "expired" unexpired deals and just move on rather than actually expiring the deal.

I always expire deals I come across that need expiring. Seems most people dont though.

Tried that - when I posted my frijj deal I expired everything that was obviously expired, ie 2 months old or more. but they still show as unexpired (I mention in OP that you possibly need two people to expire now) Plus its a lot of effort when it could be set up as a default when posting the deal - theres a bit to put the expirey date but its quite rare to know the exact end date when you see a good offer, so most leave it blank

Yeah sorting by date would work, I can't understand why it doesn't sort by date once it has found an equal relevancy match ("frijj"). Some deals do stay for months - but you are allowed to repost after a month so you could always repost it, or allow someone else to get some heat by letting them post it. after all it won't effect your heat. Of course that is pending Admins decision on what they would like you to do, bump old threads or start new ones. Some clarity is needed here............

every deal I expire goes to expired straight away.

Guess I have more rep / voting power than you then

Quite possibly given your postcount, time served here and the sterling work you do sir

Have you tried it btw? (assume you did before posting that)

I once expired something by accident which was still current, have I had my powers recinded / lowered ?? (On the new heat scale I am a 6)

Frustrating when expired deals aren't showing up that way.
