Did you report that post?
#2
Of course, but I only noticed it shortly before I posted this, pretty surprised to be honest as I've hardly seen ebay links unspotted before but its obviously the same ebay seller as in the scam thread (on reflection the ebay link has been posted after dandoc posted the ebay item in another thread, but who knows who else might have visited the direct link and bought on impulse - its not the most obvious scam/dodgy listing on ebay after all).

One possible way might be to add 'cgi.ebay.co.uk' to the swear filter although I'm sure a much neater solution would be possible.

Thanks jah128 for the suggestion, it appears to work fine automatically removing them :)

Or posts a "makerashorterurl" link - its easy to get round filters - but not people reporting them.
#9
Absolutely, although I'm sure in almost all cases people are accidentally (not knowing or forgetting the rule) posting the links, its just a sort of safety measure as I've seen a couple of ebay links posted which are probably fake/cons (often as a price comparison in FS or deals) and it might possibly stop just one person from making an error in haste, which could only be a good thing.

We don't allow those on the forums... if you see any, it would be appreciated if you could report them. Thanks.

Not a problem - its why I suggested people reporting was the best filter!

sorry to sound blonde but whats one of those:? where it says "click here" instead of actual written address? (that sort of thing)

I dont think thats what she meant Rayman.

When you make a post, its written in BBCode. Above where you type your text, you will see a toolbar. If you highlight "Click here" then click on the blue button with the link sign, you can add your web address (URL) and what appears online is "Click here" instead of a web address.

Your blonde moments are at an end sassie!:giggle:

yes, i meant instead of seeing "www something or other" you see a link that says click here, or this, or www and then they put in something different to the proper address, gawd im sounding worse, never mind i'll just pretend i know :-D thank you both

Yup - thats exactly what I was referring. Next post - click on the menubar as described - and you will see the popup and all will be revealed.

eg

or

http://a-website.com

are the same thing only shown without seeing the actual address. This is helpful because its no fun reading [url]www.a-website.com/gurgle/gurgle/asassdfewerfefefefef/asaedfe4fef/asaasadfsdsd[/url]

Hope that makes sense?

(The links are not real BTW - just in case of another blonde moment!) :giggle:
#17
Doh! Thanks for the correction :)

[url=http:/ /w ww.hotukdeals.com]Click Here[/ url]

Without the spaces of course

If you prefer to type it out.
#18
test...

Seems like the swear-filter works in embedded links...
#19
It does ;-) Already sorted that at least :)

Mainly a self-promotion issue. People could be saying you can get it on ebay for £xxx and they're just linking to their own sale perhaps.

Anybody remembered my ebay tips for buyers and sellers?
All of the ebay 'help' links have been killed off. :x :x :x :x

A casualty of of circumstances. But you could make tinyurl's for them, we can accept them in this case.

A casualty of of circumstances, PMSL. Just like Sigs and PM's.

How's this tinyurl thing work?
#35
Just go to tinyurl, paste in the ebay link, and it generates a new link, which you can paste into your help thread.
