It was removed as it's a non-UK site...

OK if you say so. I don't see how this is any different from Amazon.com

Tower Records isn't some murky basement retailer. Great deal being taken away from a lot of people.

Yeah. If you do a search for a voucher code for Amazon here you're offered the choice of all the worldwide Amazon sites, so I agree with sparc. I don't see how this is any different. It's not as if Amazon is a UK-based company. Anyway, I'm glad I saw the Tower thread whilst it existed as some of their Blu-Ray prices were excellent :)

[EDIT] OK, so I've just read the FAQ under what's not allowed

7. Non-UK sites (excluding a few major sites, pre-approved by admin)

so could we not allow Tower.com? It's not some dodgy site, it is a major retailer. We are totally and utterly shafted in the UK when it comes to things like Blu-Ray, not only on pricing but also on what we get for our money. In the UK you get a 2 disc set for Blade Runner and you'll be charged about 15 quid (EDIT: make that 17.59, I just checked!), in the US it's a comprehensive 5 disc set and it's only £8.50 for international delivery! Surely we should encourage quality international sites, especially with the strong pound, so that we in the UK get the best deals?

Doesn't the OP here have a genuine case ?
Tower.com are indeed a respected International seller with proper Terms @ Conditions as well as clear and transparent shipping rates:

Seems to me like they have as much justification to be listed as any other US or International Company ??

what was the deal? Had a look at Tower and Blade Runner is region 1 USA?

Many people who already own the exact same Blade Runner set confirmed in the deleted thread that it works as a multi-region disc.

Tower Records also support Google Checkout which I adore, no more registering accounts with every site on the internet and the process was all in our own currency, three clicks and done. Fantastic.

This deal has been the best I've seen on the site in quite some time thats appealed to me. If I didn't see it last night its unlikely I would of found it anywhere else. Very disappointed.

Deal was: 5-disc Blade Runner Blu-Ray for about 8.50 delivered. It is 100% region free. Even Amazon.com says things are Region 1 when they're not, it's just like their "default setting". Unless something has "REGION 0" written on the box they just put Region 1.

That's exactly our point. :) With UK sites it's a case of allowing them, and then making a decision on each one about whether or not it should be allowed to stay.

With non-UK sites, we don't allow any and then we make decisions on which are to be allowed.

As you can see, it works the opposite way.

Yes. We used to remove those, too. A thread like this was started, and then Admin said "well why not make a thread asking about other people's experiences with the firm?". We got loads of feedback for DealExtreme, most of which was positive, so we made the decision to allow DealExtreme deals here.

The removal of this post wasn't saying that we're never going to allow Tower.com deals... maybe someone should start the relevant thread here in feedback in order to get some experiences and then we'll take a look and decide whether or not to revise our policy on Tower.com stuff...

Hope that helps. :)

**EDITS BELOW** (a little bit like the post "Appendices" - not very important but worth a read for some clarification)

Here is the DealExtreme feedback thread, which led to them being allowed on here: DealExtreme Feedback

It's also worth noting the advice given by Admin about the DealExtreme stuff:

I think if it's a great deal then sure but if it's posting small items for fractionally less than a domestic merchant then it's not really recommended.

Dealextreme is obviously not Amazon or Apple or Dell league and yes there is going to need to be feedback from members on them.

Second, as noted the Apple post as well as Amazon.de postings were for non-generic items that were not available in the UK. There's a difference between listing a site for deals on generic items available here in the UK and items like a Wii or iPhone which are not.

I think there's enough positive feedback and people using it to post good offers for it. The bar is higher though for these sites do remember! as it is more risk so has to be a really good offer etc.

No, Admin means the STANDARD of deal should be much higher.

e.g. if a 100% trusted merchant has it for £100 and deal extreme has it for £97 we may as well stick with the one we trust, that isn't affected by customs charges and that has to follow UK rules on distance selling.

So yeah, we're accepting them. But we want them to be EXCEPTIONALLY HOT deals.

If you want tower.com deals listed then make a thread where we can get feedback so we know if it's a reputable retailer suitable for buying from UK.

Hi

Using Tower records, I can only get it down to £11.10 delivered as they charge $4.99 delivery. How did you get it £8.05 delivered please?
#16
