pah too much to read..

CC that is massive but I did read it all

I am not sure if all deals start off at minus - I may be wrong there but I know people who vote cold never give reasons. I tend not to vote cold - I would rather not vote at all but then thats me

Hope you are well btw x

Fanx hun - yea it is a bit isn't it?

I didn't know it was that long.... Hmmm... Maybe I could edit it and just delete it.

Yes fanx I am much beter than I was - Fanx soooo much for asking.
As you can see I am still crawling up the walls with boredom though....

OK let me see what I can do with this essay!

I agree with your sentiment, if voting cold then explain why. I just have on a Tesco direct deal because of past experince, and am now reflecting that perhaps I was a little harsh.

In no way do I own up to being the "Deal Troll" I'm not that important.

Generally however, the good ones float to the top and the poor ones to the bottom. You only have to see the evidence of the recent O2 iPod touch deals to see that.

KISS..... keep it simple stupid

I don't always say why I vote a deal cold. But then I don't always say why I vote a deal hot either. Sometimes I just can't be bothered...

The few deals i have posted always go cold first, then pick up.

Doesn't really bother me though, if i post something and one person thinks it's a good deal and saves money then that's the purpose of the site surely?

It's only the internet....

Nah don't change it for my sake - it was just an observation. If I write that much I forget what I said at the start and have to keep going back as I lose my train of thought  must be my age I think lol

ah, I get annoyed with peoples mindless cold voting all the time, but at the end of the day, if it benifits someone out there and even the slightest decent comment comes my way I am happy again. This site should be about helping everyone, but i think sometimes thats lost in people not thinking

I wasn't knocking you, just saying that i'm not particularly bothered, i've only posted like 3 or 4 deals, the negativitiy of a few doesn't put me off posting deals, likewise if it was constantly getting hot i wouldn't post more.

I generally post things i am looking for myself!! :)

Well - tell you what - I will have to go off and pro-actively seek out something that IS cold! No, I admire the people who take the time and effort to place these things on here I truly do - I just felt a bit sad I guess for a couple of newbies lately who saw their effort go sub zero in a matter of seconds almost...

Still - like somebody else said eventually the cream will always rise to the top (or get round the cats whiskers!) xxxx

I'd like to understand what you are trying to convey, but need a bit more clarification if you don't mind.

WHY is it that (say) when somebody Posts a Deal which in 'their' mind is either worth posting, is a deal - be it good or OK - is worthy of a mention, and is in some cases in the last day or so THE VERY FIRST POST that they have placed on the sight.........
What does this mean? Is it meant to be a question? When you say “which in 'their' mind is either worth posting”, what is the alternative you are implying?

Why is it that pretty much IMMEDIATELY upon submission does the deal go to (say minus 09, then minus 15 and so on......... NOTE: This happens almost AS SOON AS the deal has been placed......
What deal are you referring to and is this meant to be a question?

Yet no comments are placed under the deal as to why it is so cold.... As the Deal has been marked Cold immediately, is there a secret 'Deal Troll' that just simply marks EVERY deal COLD along with his multiple a/c's as it ??
What are multiple a/c's?

The deal for the Puppy/Dogs game on Wii yesterday that was the VERY FIRST POST some chap had placed on here went to minus 10 IMMEDIATELY irrespective of the price and the fact that it WAS a good price - but some people didn't like the game??? WHAT has that got to do with whether or not it is a good deal/price??
I think it matters whether or not one likes a product, irrespective of its price. For example, I once bought the Prince album 'Emancipation' for £2.99 and almost instantly regretted buying it. In my opinion, the album is utter rubbish, although I would not dispute anyone else's claim that it is a great album. And so, I certainly would not subscribe to the idea that £2.99 for any 3 cd album is a great price.

Is this about personal opinion (such as the Meerkats) or is this about what actually constitutes a good deal or not a good deal? Should we just do away with the cold button altogether and just leave it to people to comment on the deals whilst only giving them the option to vote indifferently or positively?
I think the cold button has a positive function within this forum. If I posted a deal that I was about to purchase and it went super cold (as some of my deals have), I would re-think my intention to purchase the deal. I'd add that when deals go cold, at least one person usually states why they've voted cold and I don't think it's necessary for all cold-voters to state their reason for voting cold, especially if the reason is the same as what other have already stated.

If you are going to mark something cold IMMEDIATELY - then surely you should give a reason? Saying "Oh it is cheaper here - or there - or whatever may well be a valid reason - but it also begs the question as to well "WHY didn't YOU put the deal on here then???" (Duplicate deals excepted)
I'm also not convinced that I should be compelled to state the reason why I vote a deal cold because I often don't have the time and if I'm using my Acer Aspire One, then I try to keep typing to a minimum.

This isn't either aimed at anybody, as clearly I don't know if there is a secret 'Deal Troll / Trolls or if it is just the usual suspect behaving in a silly manner until one of the more frequent deal providers places a deal....
What do you mean when you say “ This isn't either aimed at anybody...”? What is the alternative you are implying?

I guess the angle or point I am trying to come at this from is that I guess SOME people may have put a fair amount of effort into uploading their 1st post or 2nd deal or whatever it may be and may want to almost in a weird way want to be kind of proud of it and the effort and to see it go sub zero immediately with little or no feedback given I think is less than charitable. Especially that poor chap yesterday who was on his very first post.
I agree people need to be encouraged to post deals, especially if their first post goes cold. I usually welcome them to HUKD and encourage them to post more.

I've done my best to understand what you've said and I hope I've not misrepresented your sentiments.

doesnt matter if they get voted cold... if it really is a hot deal then it will get hotted in the long run.
