You have to be of a very slight disposition to worry so much about getting flamed for posting a deal.

If I post one and its useless then so be it. I soon get over it. The net is pretty anonymous, its not like I'm on the TV and have to face all my mates down the pub for posting a carp deal :)

I really don't get your point.

Do you need to click the activation link you were sent by email - yes I think you do.

If you can't see it... go to your control panel, click edit email on the left, and enter your enail again, to send the message again. Then you can comment.

Is that what problem you are having?

As if it's only noobs who get flamed:roll:

OP, do some research. Old posters OFTEN end up in blazing flame wars on here. All works out good in the end;-) The problem with new posters is they tend to post non uk deals, self promo or just plain carp and then don't like it when they are corrected by those that have learnt the protocol of the board. Stick around at it becomes easier:thumbsup:

I used to think this way, but admin has confirmed today that cold deals affect your ability to vote other deals hot!

I've known that for ages. But its a complicated equation based on rep, deals etc so its really no biggie in the grand scheme of things:thumbsup:

Well have some rep to offset it a bit

As Shengis has said no-one likes to see a deal they think is good enough to post going down in flames, but I think most of us that have posted deals for a while had had the odd one that never really hit the mark, you just need to move on.

Might be worth thinking about a couple of things though....

How many members make their first deal including the words (or similar) "I've been using the site for ages & have only just signed up to post this deal because I thought it was so good"?

Have none of these newbie's seen mention in all that time of price comparison sites that would mean their thread isn't frozen because there are half a dozen places cheaper but they 'thought' it was a really good price?

Have none of them seen Mods (& members) offering links & advice to other new members/posters & thought "Hmmm, maybe I should check out how I'm expected to post".

Would you be as quick to defend all these 'first time posters' who have just discovered this "really great site" they've just 'discovered' (that just happens to be run out of a garden shed by their brother in law) had you been one of the members who had thought a deal was too good to miss & rushed in without thinking or researching & lost money to some self promoting scammer?
I'm sure you'd agree the first people to get it in the neck if a load of members lost money this way would be the same Mods who certain members are crying are too zealous & have some agenda for keeping all these little firms off the site.

Quite honestly a forum is the same as any other aspect of life, if you're going to try something new then you should do your homework because if you don't prepare properly then the simple description for such behaviour is that "fools rush in".......

C32 you missed "This is my first deal so go easy on me".

Translation...

I'm an easy target, go get your rifles:lol:

The worst ones are those who post a deal which they know is useless and they just want the rest of us to show them where the best deal is :-D

Thats a plainly ridiculous strategy.

good to see some of the "older" posters sort of answering... we have been hovering around the forums for a while and have used the deal links a lot, it is only now, because of other projects we have not posted or rejoined...

it is obvious that the current system of rep / points / % blah blah is too much for a noob / slow poster to get their head round...

that is why we suggested a NOOB forum, same rules apply but it is for noobs / new posters to get used to the idea of the forum first... before they get slammed and flamed becuase they have used the wrong words, seen a deal on google that is a typical sponsored link to experienced users, but means the earth to the noob to share it with others...

so how about a "Nursery Forum" for say less than 50 posts or something??? :santa:

The problem with a nursery forum... Who would look at it? Chances are, even if they could find it they would STILL slate most of the stuff in there. No what you really need is what we got, baptism of fire  ;-)

I totally agree. If one ever existed I'd want it to be voluntary because I wouldn't want to be penned in there! :o I think it would single out newbies even more instead of just letting us blend in! :?

Yes it's scary posting your first deal and it's pants when you crash and burn but as others have said, it's the internet, it's anonymous so just pick yourself up, dust yourself down and jump right back on again! :-D

I have to agree that some people are unnecessarily rude though but again, that's the internet, you get that everywhere. Just ignore anyone who's not worthy of your time and go about your business taking tips from the people who know their stuff and give constructive criticism. :)

One man's treasure is another man's junk. Even the mods have posted deals that have crashed and burned. (Including me :p)
